BenQ HC1200 Projector Review: Special Features - sRGB Color Mode, High ANSI Contrast, No Color Fade Certified, SmartEco Mode, Instant Restart

sRGB Color Mode

BenQ's sRGB mode in the HC1200 provides dead-on accuracy of the sRGB color standard making color presentation as true to the object’s actual color as possible.  The photos below show a comparison of the HC1200 with a calibrated sRGB monitor.

High ANSI Contrast

Normal contrast ratings depict the difference between an all-white image vs. an all-black image.  ANSI contrast deals with the ratio between whites and blacks in a single image.  What this means is that in a picture with both light and dark areas, blacks will tend to look less gray than most of the competition if the ANSI contrast is high.

No Color Fade Certified

Older LCD projectors used organic LCD panels whose colors faded as they age, BenQ's Colorific™ technology ensures that the HC1200’s colors will be just as vibrant after thousands of hours of use as they are when new.  However, it should be noted that as all LCD panel manufacturers have switched to organic panels in recent years, color fading may no longer be an issue.

Smart Eco Mode

In this mode, the projector automatically adjusts the lamp power to use only as much light is needed to deliver the best contrast and brightness for the scene, thus maximizing power savings.

Instant Restart

Most projectors need a period of time for the lamp to cool after its been turned off to avoid damage.  With the HC1200, if the projector is accidently turned off, the presenter has 90 seconds to immediately turn it back on, without risk of damage to the lamp or projector.
