The readability of text was nothing short of spectacular. With a native resolution of 1920x1200 it was very difficult to find any noticeable flaws in small text like 8 pt, and even smaller font sizes. The higher resolutions that you end up paying quite a bit more for really do make a difference, but it should be noted that the expense is really only worth it if you know for sure how you are going to use the projector. For instance, if you were just looking for high brightness, but you planned to present very simple promotional slides to end users, and the font sizes were going to be large, bold, statements, then going for a high priced high resolution projector might not provide much benefit. However, if you are teaching, and you have a captive audience for long periods of time, then higher resolution is certainly a better end user experience.

The other area where higher resolution, high brightness projectors are worth the money would be in the scientific and architectural training industries. Interfaces in most of the these software programs are very textual and the classes can often be many hours long. Sharp, crisp images are going to be extremely important. Frequent breaks might be necessary with any of the WXGA 1280x800 resolution, projectors. The bottom line on the image quality in terms of the WUX4000 is that its image is excellent and this makes the projector a good choice.

Let’s discuss in some more detail the image quality of the WUX4000. LCOS technology really does seem to produce some very accurate color, and Canon has produced a projector that performs extremely well. Reds and yellows, which typically are hard to get accurate with projectors in general, were really spot on, and not to mention, vibrant. This is helped by the projectors 4000 lumens of brightness, which is going to mean colors with punch, regardless of the technology, but the LCOS technology should not be understated.

Canon REALiS WUX4000 Projector: Video Performance

Being 4000 lumens the Canon REALiS WUX4000 does have punch as mentioned, and a few lights on in the room wouldn’t detract from the image at all. The WUX4000 however, is not a projector designed for home theater use, even if the specs might say otherwise. The video is stellar at first glance and even after a second glance, but with a contrast ratio of 1000:1 you might find, when compared to projectors designed for home theater, that you would be better off buying a projector designed for that purpose. In a classroom environment where impressing home theater enthusiasts is not important, then you have a winner with this projector. However, I would not consider it as my dedicated home theater. Having said that, the image quality in terms of sharpness, with the higher native resolution, really was impressive.
