Epson BrightLink 436Wi Projector Overview

Epson has once again released a very well thought out projector. With the educator in mind, Epson has created a collaborative projector that is extremely feature rich, produces an excellent image and doesn't break budgets. The Epson 436Wi is a interactive projector that uses software to help make educating fun and more engaging. All this interaction takes place with the use of a special pen. The unit comes with only one pen but you can purchase another so that you can annotate on the board simultaneously with a student or other collaborator.

With a brightness output rating of 3000 lumens the 436Wi is bright and can handle the most demanding environments. I should mention that this projector is rated at 3000 lumens not just for white colors like all the other projectors on the market, but also for red, green, and blue. The native resolution of the Epson 436Wi is 1280x800 pixels, and its contrast ratio is 3000:1. The 16:10 aspect ratio makes for a wide screen projector that mimics the kind of wide screen we are used to seeing in a typical flat screen TV. Only difference, you can have a much large image.

Since the 436Wi is interactive and it is expected that you will be spending a lot of time at the drawing board, the projector is ultra short throw. This will reduce shadow, almost eliminating them, and keeps the bright projector light out of your eye. Either ceiling mount the projector or place on a table, either way you will end up with a very nice image. Being ultra short throw, you just have to mount the projectors lens a foot or two from the screen to get a very large image.

Coming up, we will take a tour of the projector and discover all the capabilities that Epson has incorporated into the Epson 436Wi.

Epson BrightLink 436Wi Projector Special Features

Easy Interactive Tools
The software suite that comes with the BrightLink 436Wi is very comprehensive, and a myriad of teaching aids make for a pretty impressive level of functionality. It is MAC and Windows compatible.

Collaboration
The BrightLink 436Wi comes with one pen, however you can purchase an extra pen. Each user can have their own pen, and write at the same time.

Interactive with Multiple Sources
On-board interactive tools allow you to annotate over video signals like HDMI and composite, without the software being installed on a laptop. You do however, install software on the laptop for additional functionality when annotating while projecting the signal from your projector. Using the software has the advantage of being able to save your annotations. You can't save your drawings unless you are annotating when the signal is coming from your computer.

Large Image with Projector Mounted Close To Screen
Ultra short throw will allow you mount the projector to the same wall as your WhiteBoard. You can achieve an 80 inch diagonal image by just placing the projector 32.7 inches away. This virtually eliminates shadows cast by projectors that are mounted to the ceiling many feet back. Also, no blinding light when you turn to address your audience.
