Epson EX7240 Pro Projector - Special Features:  Built-in wifi, HDMI w/MHL, Quick Setup, Computer Free Presentations

Built-in Wireless Network Support

The EX7240 Pro has built-in wireless networking support making for easy connections to a laptop, tablet or smartphone for making presentations.  While many projectors in this class offer an extra cost optional accessory wireless network adapter, this Epson model has it built-in.

HDMI with MHL

We are starting to see more and more business and education class projectors offering MHL support on one of their HDMI inputs.  The EX7240 Pro supports MHL allowing you to connect, not only MHL enabled smartphones and tablets, but also devices such as a Roku Stick streaming player directly to the projector.

Quick Setup

The EX7240 Pro offers a 1.2X manual zoom lens with both vertical and horizontal keystone correction.  The vertical keystone correction offers either automatic or manual modes and corrects the image geometry when the projector is tilted upward.  When being used as a portable projector the EX7240 can be placed on a table top and setup quickly in a typical conference room environment.  When placed level on a table, I found the bottom of the projected image (in the native 16 x 10 format) falls a little below the height of the table, so tilting the front of the projector upward (using the projector's adjustable front foot) and the use of the vertical keystone correction may be necessary in some cases.

Computer Free Presentations

A USB drive can be plugged into the projector’s USB connector to display photos/sideshows (jpg, bmp, gif, png formats),  and videos (avi format only) without having an attached computer.  The projector’s remote includes the buttons needed to navigate through the photo slide show or video.  This can be useful by providing a quick setup for hassle-free presentations.
