InFocus IN114 Projector Overview

The InFocus IN114 is a ultra portable projector that packs a lot of power into a pretty small package. Of course there are smaller projectors on the market, but the IN114 has a really low MSRP of $399 and its performance proved to be quite impressive. What the projector might lack in features, it makes up for in image quality.

This will be the first review I do this season and this year. I have upgraded my laptop to the new Mac Book Pro with Retina Display. This posed a lot of interesting problems when it comes to outputting a signal to the projector. The issues have nothing to do with the projector itself. I have to say the InFocus IN114 really handles the high resolutions that the video card in the Mac Book Pro can dish out considering the projectors native resolution.

The InFocus IN114 is a 2700 lumen projector that weighs in at 4.8 pounds. It has a eye popping 4000:1 contrast ratio so expect much deeper blacks when projecting darker content. InFocus has made this projector 3D ready if you have PC based 3D content. Also impressive is the 6000 hours of estimated lamp life. A definite cost savings. The projector is also ceiling mountable.

The overall design of the projector is not impressive or unusual but it is compact and appears to be durable enough for travel and or sharing amongst colleagues. The lens is recessed and protected from accidental bumping and scratching so that is a definite plus in the projectors design. I will talk more about the design in the physical tour of the projector coming up in the next part of this review.
