JVC DLA-X95R Projector - Warranty

Posted on September 27, 2013 by Art Feierman

In the US, the JVC DLA-X95R comes with a three year parts and labor warranty (3 years in Canada too).

Three years warranty seems to be the most common these days, for projector over $5K.

As I see it, the toughest competition around right now for the JVC DLA-X95R is the Sony VPL-VW95ES and the $25K VPL-VW1000ES, perhaps the Mitusibishi HC9000D, and from a value standpoint the Epson Pro Cinema 6020UB.  All offer 3 years.

JVC has always seemed to provide extremely good build quality. I have been impressed with all three JVC's I've owned.  So far, JVC models have also seem to have a very good reputation for reliability. In the 5 years I've owned JVC's, my own original RS1, and current RS20 have performed without a single issue, with total usage above 5500 hours (combined).

I originally wrote this:  I've never owned, or sold (with my previous company), any JVC's from the consumer group, so have no real first hand knowledge about their support.  Let me update that.  JVC points out that both Pro and Consumer groups share the same customer service. Now knowing that, I have nothing but good things to say about JVC's customer service.  It's been a few years, perhaps, but I have spoken with them several times probably most recently after I bought my RS20.

Bottom Line:   A three year parts and labor warranty is about as good as it gets, but typical for the price.  The exceptions in the price range tend to be lower cost projectors from the really high end brands such as Runco or SIM2, where the standard warranty may be short, but where most buyers opt for extended support and service contracts.  Side story:  A friend of a friend's final support package, for his high five figure Runco and other equipment, includes same day uptime from his dealer).  If his projector goes down during the first football game on a Sunday, he expects to be back up and running before the second games end (he has a 4 hour response time contract).   Now that's service, but  you better believe that support is expensive.
