Mitsubishi WL7200U Projector: Bottom Line

The Mitsubishi WL7200U is a very capable performer that has a lot going for it.  It's very bright, reasonably quiet and provides a sharp, colorful image with any resolution.  The power lens shift, zoom and focus, along with the availability of optional lenses, provide great installation flexibility.  It has every type of input you could want and has extensive network control capability.  Picture quality and color depth are adequate in the brighter modes and video looks great in Theater mode.  The long-life filter and solid warranty and service programs are yet another plus.  The icing on the cake is that the WL7200U is also one of the lowest priced projectors (with similar specs) on the market.

The Mitsubishi’s performance equals another high brightness projector we recently tested, the Sony VPL-FH30, but at a lower price.  Compared to the Sony, the Mitsubishi WL7200U has greater brightness and nearly equal color in the brightest mode, for about $1000 less.  In fact, the only projector I could find in the Mitsubishi’s price range that matched its specs was the Panasonic PT-EW630U.  We have not tested this projector, but it may be an option to consider as all of the specs are nearly identical to the WL7200U and Panasonic’s projectors always have excellent color performance.

Bottom line is that the WL7200U should be high on the list of anyone looking for a high brightness, WXGA projector that is also light enough to be somewhat portable, easily being moved from one conference room or classroom to another.  With plenty of brightness, good color and installation flexibility, all at a reasonable price, the Mitsubishi WL7200U should find plenty of takers.
