QUMI Q7 LED PROJECTOR SUMMARY PAGE 2: Pros and Cons! Below find the things we like most about the Q7 and its capabilities, and then there's those items that "could be better." All considered, a strong entry for a sub-$1000 LED projector, one loaded with features, especially relative to size and weight. Size and weight, Brightness (for a small LED projector), HDMI/MHL, Media Players, and optional Wifi are the real highlights! Read on.

Qumi Q7 Projector - Pros

Very compact, mobile 3 pound projector, with small footprint
Long life LED light source (30,000 hours claimed), low cost of operation
WXGA resolution (1280x800) supports up to 1600x1200 + 720p, 1080p...
Optional Wifi (via dongle that plugs into USB port)
Two HDMI inputs
MHL (mobile HDMI) support on HDMI 1
Multiple media players - Music, Microsoft Office, Photos, Videos, PDFs. TXTs...
4 Gigabytes of onboard memory for media players, etc.
800 lumens - measured about 750, provides very respectable brightness suitable for presentations to 50+ in a room with limited lighting control, including small classrooms and small to medium conference rooms
Multiple color modes
About 500 lumens with very good color!
Good performance in terms of general picture quality, image noise
Closed Captioning
Eco mode limits fan noise, but only reduces brightness slightly
Limited zoom lens range (better than no zoom lens)
Very decent audio for a large "pico / pocket" projector, audio output
Credit Card style remote control has decent range
Compatible with ultra-thin "Redmere-type" HDMI cables
Basic Remote Mousing features
Two year parts and labor warranty - better than most direct competition
Includes carry case
Very good value proposition vs. other LED projectors

Qumi Q7 - Cons

Color saturation control not available with high res sources (my biggest complaint), as generally the modes are a bit over saturated (although over saturation helps cut through ambient light.
Could offer more advanced control of color features such as Brilliant Color, and fine tuning color (although color is overall, pretty good)
Obviously not as bright as lamp based projectors in the same price range (true of all solid state projectors like this one)
Black level performance is strictly "entry level" despite high contrast spec
Fan noise on the loud side at full power, but not too loud to be an issue
Documentation (reasonably good), could be better - more detailed
Audio output should allow internal speakers to stay on
Generally energy efficient, but not Energy Star compliant. (Draws about half to 2/3 the power of a typical portable lamp based projector)
Video media player does not support .mov format
Credit card remote - typical: Buttons are "soft"
