AAXA P1 Jr. Projector - Physical Tour

Posted on September 27, 2013 by Art Feierman

AAXA P1 Jr. Projector Appearance

Small and shiny black, (and a bit busy looking), the AAXA P1 Jr. has the lens on the right (looking at the front), with the focus ring right on on the top.

In the middle of the top of the projector is the control panel, consisting of a spring loaded joy stick type control, and a small Escape button sits next to it. There is a nickle sized vent over the whisper fan and speaker

The back of the AAXA P1 Jr. has four jacks, they are, from left to right:

  • AV input (composite video and stereo audio), which accepts NTSC or PAL with a maximum resolution of 720x480.
  • Power switch: Press and hold for about 3 seconds to power up. Press and hold the same amount to power back down
  • Mini-USB port. It supports USB On-The-Go (OTG) devices, which include numerous digital cameras, video cameras, smart phones and other devices.
  • Power receptacle for the AC adapter/charger

That takes us to the bottom, where there is a downward facing speaker (sound also comes out of that fan vent above it and the front. You will also find a standard tripod screw receptacle on the bottom, a bit closer to the front than the back.

AAXA P1 Jr. Control Panel

Operation of the control panel is very simple. Pressing the joystick down will bring up the main menu, which is navigated by the joystick operating as up/down/left/right arrows. Press for enter, or the side escape button to go back up a row.

LCD SETUP : Brightness

The P1 Jr.'s menus are very functional the opening menu and the the main menu are very graphical but then you get into text menus. If anything, I was surprised by the breadth of choices and adjustments offered.

The close up of the LCD setup menu also gives you a close look at the sharpness, of the numbers. You can see the pixel structure. I should note that the type in that menu "Brightness" is the same size as the smaller type on the lower menu photo, the same size as "Wipe effect"
