FAQs: How does www.projectorreviews.com decide which projectors to review?
Question: How does www.projectorreviews.com decide which projectors to review?
Answer: There are multiple factors in determining which projectors are reviewed:
First of all, I attempt to do projector reviews of the most popular, and best projectors in each price range. However we are limited to being able to get our hands on the products, and often we are in a long waiting queue for product. To help out with that we have established what we call a Partner Program with the various manufacturers. From such a partner program, we provide some premium placements on our website, in exchange for a steady stream of projectors to review, on a timely basis. This has worked well, with companies like Optoma, Epson, Infocus, Panasonic, etc., getting us most review projectors right before the projectors start shipping, or shortly after.
The partner program also provides us with better interfacing with key people at those manufacturers, which in turn, translates into getting answers quicker to my questions, and in one case, with the Epson Cinema 550 for example, when a problem was discovered with the first review projector, I was able to obtain a replacement from Epson within 48 hours.

Our partner program, provides us better access to product, but it does not effect the net conclusions of the projector review. Some Partner's projectors receive Hot Product Awards, others don't. The same is true for the projector reviews of non-partner's products. It's important for readers to understand, the success of our site is dependent on the credibility of our reviews.
Because of the number of projectors that our partners provide for review, it does limit the number of projectors we review from companies that are not partners.
The general guideline used, is that, with over 50 manufacturers out there, and our capacity to do roughly one review a week (and often not that many), I normally limit the number of reviews per year of "non-partners" products to two per manufacturer maximum. If, however a non-partner has 3 or 4 projectors that are especially interesting, I will try to review all of them.
