Question: I've read your reviews and am confused. In some cases you have given a Hot Product Award to a projector, but in projector reviews of some competing projectors, you often seem to indicate that the other projectors are better. Isn't that inconsistant?

Answer: Not really! Time is normally the factor. A couple of quick examples. In the first half of 2005, the Optoma H57 and BenQ PE7700 rated Hot Product Reviews. The H57 sold online, for about $2500 at the time of the review (a 1024x576 resolution HT projector). The BenQ PE7700 sold for around $3000 when it was posted. The H57 is long discontinued, and the PE7700 has dropped about $1000 in selling price. But today's hottest products in the $2000 price range are the Epson 550, Sanyo Z4 and Panasonic PT-AE900u projectors. When the H57 and BenQ 7700 were writen, their competition were older projectors, (like the older Z3, and Panasonic AE700u), which weren't a match for them at that time.. But, now there are more competitive products out there. To finish my thoughts: In the case of the PE7700, it's still an excellent projector, but no longer is dominant in its current price range, and some others have the edge in various areas, but there are still plenty of people out there for whom the PE7700 may be the best choice.
