BenQ MW811ST Projector Comparison

Check out our review of the award-winning BenQ MP780ST interactive projector.
The BenQ MW811ST is a whiteboard interactive projector that is similar to the MP780ST, which we recently reviewed, in several key ways. Both are short throw DLP projectors, have an MSRP of $2099, are 3D ready, claim 2500 lumens, feature two 10W built-in speakers and have native WXGA (1280×800) resolution.
However, the MW811ST has a higher contrast ratio, boasting 4600:1 versus the MP780ST’s mere 3000:1 – though this difference is minimal. The MW811ST also has a longer lamp life than the MP780ST, with a maximum of 4000 hours or 5000 hours in eco-mode, compared to 3000 and 4000, respectively.
Furthermore, the MW811ST is slightly lighter than the other, weighing 7.5 lbs. in comparison to the MP780ST’s 8.4 lbs. This allows for a bit better portability if you’re transporting the projector from room to room in your office building, or even if you’re carrying it with you on the road!
The BenQ MW811ST projector also lacks the HDMI input that the MP780ST comes equipped with. And perhaps most significantly, the MW811ST only offers a 1-year warranty, as opposed to the MP780ST’s coveted 3-year coverage… Bummer!
The photos below were taken using the BenQ MW811ST’s sibling, the MP780ST. With that noted, the images from the MW811ST projector should look very similar to the one we reviewed, since they have the same brightness.
But what might make the BenQ MW811ST projector the right choice for you? For one, as a short throw projector, the MW811ST is ideal for presentations in smaller environments that face space constraints. The MW811ST offers excellent placement flexibility, whether you’re ceiling mounting or placing your projector on a table in front of your screen. This minimizes shadows that can disrupt your presentation and doesn’t blind you when you’re up in front of clients, students or your boss.
The MW811ST also promises preparedness as 3D continues to skyrocket in popularity. This makes the MW811ST an exciting choice for education – and even home entertainment – use!
With two built-in 10W speakers (20W of audio capability total), your BenQ MW811ST is also loud enough to handle your audio requirements. Plus, its microphone input, coupled with those powerful speakers, can help you save your voice if you’ve got a long day ahead of you. The MW811ST also has a USB reader, allowing for hassle-free, computer-less presentations straight from your flash drive – talk about convenience!
Lastly, the MW811ST comes with thoughtful teaching templates you can project onto your whiteboard (hence the W in the name MW811ST) without having to draw charts, worksheets, or even musical staffs!
So if you’re looking for a high contrast, widescreen interactive projector to add to your small-sized presentation environment, the BenQ MW811ST will keep you covered!
