Hmm, the black levels of the HC4900 and the HC720 should actually be close. While the HC720 is very good for a 720p 3LCD projector, the HC4900 is weakest at black levels.

It’s a tough guess on my part, with months apart between reviews. I’d probably say that the HC720 would be the better of the two, but, it’s hard to cross-wire my brain when I’m used to comparing 1080’s to 1080’s, and 720’s to 720’s, since the expectations for 1080p projectors are so much higher.

It’s too bad, the manufacturers don’t just let me keep all the review units… Sadly then ask me to return them ASAP. -art

I was very interested and set in getting this projector. However, as of right now the HC4900 can be had for $1400 after mail-in rebates. How does the HC4900’s black level compare to this H.C.720?
