I am insalliing a major home theater in a antigue firestation I have just recieved an in83 but have not installed yet since we are installing 14ft tall custom tower speakers and 133" diag motorized screen before setting up the 1n83, it will be positioned with a 19ft throw. I took it out of the box it seems superior in long throw in semi ambient light against a painted wall and rendered the golden cilor of c3po from star wars. I would like to here your comments if this the machine for the application or is one of the other you have tested is better. I feel the infocus is great for contrast and has the lumen power for daytime use. I paid $4599 for it. Should I send it back, do you have a lower price outlet or a better performing unit in this price range? Paul Grynick

Paul, if it works in your facility there, it should be an excellent choice. The only brighter projector, without doubling or more, what you spent, is the Optoma HD81-LV, and while I'm not even half way through my review of the IN83, my take, right now, is that unless I needed every possible lumen, the InFocus is the better projector from a picture quality standpoint. The Optoma has an outboard processor and far more inputs, but the IN83 is well equipped.

I'd say go for it (or rather - keep it!)

Let me know how your installation works out. BTW, wait a few weeks after it's all up and running, so that your comments are after you get over the shock of how good it is. (just about every projector initially blows people away, if it's their first one). -art
