Greetings all,
Some good news. I just received a few minutes ago, an email from the folks at JVC. They will be sending me a JVC DLA-RS10, sometime next week, for review.
By then, the Optoma HD806 will be completed. Unless one of the Epson’s arrives as well (no confirmation yet), the JVC RS10 will be next. The Epson 6500 UB, would take priority over that, and possibly the 6100, but at this point, still no date confirmation on the Epsons. My best guess, therefore, is that the RS10 review will publish before Christmas.
So, stay tuned! -art

Greetings all,
Well, I’m slammed with emails asking about when the Epson 6100 and 6500 UB will be reviewed. I’m still waiting, like all the other reviewers, for Epson to release review units. As of yesterday, their PR firm (PR firms usually handle such things) still was telling me. ”We haven’t gotten them in yet, but soon”. They still say, this month.
Both are top priority over here (if they both arrive same day, the UB will be first, however. Read the rest of this entry »

Greetings everyone! Hope everyone enjoyed the long Thanksgiving weekend (US only…).
The Sanyo projector has been in use since the weekend. I still haven’t spent a great deal of time watching movies and movie segments, but have logged a fair amount of time on HDTV and sports. The Z3000 has an MSRP of $3295, but I’m still waiting to hear the MAP price, which tends to indicate the online sales price. I’ve emailed Sanyo, and waiting to hear back. Since I haven’t heard, my thought about pricing is that Sanyo will match, and maybe beat, the Panasonic MAP pricing of $2499 for their PT-AE3000. Sanyo loves to slug it out with Panasonic, and rarely lets Panasonic under price them. We’ll know in a couple of days!
I’m hoping to publish the full review on Friday, or more likely, this Saturday.
The PLV-Z3000 has surprised me in a few ways. First, and most significantly Read the rest of this entry »

Greetings all,
OK, it’s true, this isn’t a first look. I’ve been so slammed reviewing projectors, that I never got around to doing a normal “first look” about half way though the review process.
The full Sony VPL-HW10 review was posted last night.
Let’s just say that the Sony HW10 proved to be pretty much what was expected – a slight improvement over the older VW40, including support for Deep Color, which the older Sony projector didn’t have.
Enjoy the review. Look for a real “first look” blog tonight, about the Sanyo PLV-Z3000! There actually have been a few surprises! -art
