Optoma HD8200 Home Theater Projector – a Second Look

March 26th, 2009 Art Feierman

UPDATE: The Optoma HD8200 Review has been posted.

Greetings!

Confused yet?  The reason I’ve titled this a “Second Look” despite having not written a first look: My opinion of this projector has changed a fair amount from my original assessment (and, I might note, part of that shift is courtesy of one of the folks that commented to my blogs).  I decided to skip the 1st look about the Optoma HD8200.  Reason is, I like the HD8200 now, better than in my first few hours of viewing.  Work on the Comparison Report prevented me blogging about the Optoma HD8200 shortly after I received it.

OK, here are my thoughts: Read the rest of this entry »

InFocus IN83 vs. JVC DLA-RS10, HD350

March 19th, 2009 Art Feierman

Greetings again!

One more comparson added to the report:  The InFocus IN83 vs. the JVC DLA-RS10 and their HD350.  The best in color accuracy – the InFocus, takes on the JVC RS10 with its excellent black level performance (only bettered so far by their older RS2), and current DLA-RS20, and “identical” HD750.  Of course there’s more to it than that.  Access from the report’s Compare Projectors page.  Enjoy! -art

Greetings all,

I’m still churning out those side by side comparisons and adding them to the 1080p Projector Comparison Report.  You’ll access this projector comparison with the others, from the Compare Projectors page on the report.  -art

1080p Projector Comparison Report is Live – At last

March 14th, 2009 Art Feierman

Greetings, This is just a quick note for those of you getting our RSS feed.  The rather massive 1080p projector report went live 3 minutes ago.

Naturally, it’s not fully proofed, more links, and more articles, including about 8-10 more head to head projector comparisons will be added over the next week or so.

Still there’s plenty to read, compare, and debate.  Have a blast.  A favor, no need to comment back about minor errors – yet.  The bulk of the proofing will be completed by Monday night – then, if you have found something – let us know!  thanks – and enjoy! -art (I’m off to a concert – for a well needed break)

March Madness: Sanyo PLV-Z3000 Scores with Another Rebate

March 9th, 2009 Art Feierman

Greetings!  (this has been updated on 3/10/09)

While it’s most difficult for me to keep track of selling prices of dozens of home theater projectors, every once in a while something price related comes to my attention that’s worth reporting (I previously noted Epson’s increased rebate on the Home Cinema 6500UB).

For the next three weeks, Sanyo’s competition may well be crying foul. Read the rest of this entry »

1080p Home Theater Projector Comparison Report – Update

March 8th, 2009 Art Feierman

UPDATE: The full 1080p Home Theater Projector Comparison Report has been posted.

Greetings all,

OK, I’ve been getting emails asking when the report will be posted.  I’ve got good news and bad. The good news is that I will publish Friday or Saturday (that tends to mean Saturday night).  As is my tendency, each year the report gets bigger.  It’s pretty massive, and will include new sections to help people figure out which ones are best for their situation. One such section talks about which projectors are best for larger projector screens. Another deals with those only looking for movie viewing, and another for those planing on movies and lots of TV/HDTV and sports.    Read the rest of this entry »
