Art, speaking of calibration and measurement, have you ever thought (or have you already done) an article on calibration? I'd love to read about what instruments are available (for "prosumers" and below) and how to do a laymans calibration. Of course many people can't afford to hire a certified calibrator...

Hi Joel,

I'm not the guy to do that. I'm strictly an amateur calibrator. Mike here, is more knowledgeable than I am, (and a better calibrator - one reason why he does all of our calibrations now.

That said, neither of us are ISF certified, and while Mike has worked with more different gear than I have, and could at least get into some details of what equipment he's now using and why, there would be more comprehensive information available, such as the calibration threads on the avsforum.com. There you'll find a number of professional calibrators contributing regularly, and advising those who are interested in getting their own equipment, on both the gear and the techniques. -art

Hi Kevin,

You tell my Mom! She' in from Florida - for her 85th B-day, and to see my daughter co-star in her high school musical).

But seriously, the projector was only here for a couple of hours, and wasn't even out of the box. In fact it still isn't! Mike is on his way over now to pick it up, measure and calibrate it. Tomorrow evening I'll spend a couple of hours running it through its paces, but with default settings - for my "out of the box" analysis. Then I'll engage Mike's settings and start serious viewing.

I do have a few other things on my plate... so have mercy! -a
