Hello Art......

Glad to see you are still "keeping busy!"

Is it possible for you to compare this Sharp to my InFocus 7210? (obviously older technology, but still throws a great image)
********************
Hi Steve,

Hmm, it's been way too long since I've seen a 7210. As you know it's black levels are pretty good, but the sharp, with Dynamic iris should do better still (with the usual trade-offs - some compression of mixed images (bright and dark). Like the InFocus projectors in general, the Sharp XV-Z15000 has a gorgeous looking image. The lens, however, seems to be a minor weakness, with the Sharp (strangely, considering their name) not being one of the sharper DLP's and probably more comparable to 3LCD projectors than the sharpest DLP models out there.

That said, it's a killer projector for the bucks, especially for those who love the DLP look and feel of the image. -art

hello sir,
i want a digital dvd projector.

**********
Yes? Not sure what you are asking? A projector with a built in DVD player? If so, look to the Epson MovieMates, and the Optoma MovieTimes, those have DVD player, speakers, etc. Everything else are "just projectors", and can work with whatever DVD player you want to hook up to them. -art

I think this projector at the current online price of just under $2000 is a good value. With those extra $500 you save from getting an Epson 6500UB you could afford an extra bulb.

Now, I'm guessing that by its contrast being very close to that of the Sanyo z3000, it must have a higher contrast than say the mitsubishi hc6500 or epson 6100 which can also be had for around the same price as the sharp.

Greetings Eli,

Yes, a very nice projector. The Sharp review may post late this evening, or, if not, tomorrow late afternoon (pacific time zone). It's black level performance is very good. It's just a little bit shy of the Epson, and probably equal to the PT-AE3000, and a touch better than the Z3000. Hope that helps. -art

I guess if your strapped for cash and can't pay a few $$$'s extra for the Epson then this might be a good unit. I personaly would just get the Epson and be happy knowing I got the best in that price class (about $2500)

I had a Sharp for about a week a few years ago. can't remember the model number. It was a 720p but the rainbow effect was terrible it also had a nasty screen door effect when the screen got to about 100"
So I returned it and got my Optoma HD72 (which still rocks!).

Great post thanks for the reveiw!
