Apple 3G isn't free, and that's not irrelevant to all of us. iPAD data plans cost $15(250MB limit),$25 (2GB), or $30(unlimited) a month depending on data useage. The Fire costs $199 to buy and you're done. To get the advantages of the iPAD unlimited 3G could run $360 a year. That means your 1yr 3G access spent almost twice as the Kindle Fire costs. Not everyone can afford that or spends enough time away from work/home to justify $360 a year.
I would be much more interested in hearing how well the two devices play a streaming movie from Amazon or Netflix. Smooth playback or choppy? Steady play or pauses for becuase the cache can't stay full? Pause, rewind, skip works correctly or does that crash the player? And most importantly, how does the detail, color, and black levels compare? Lots of people can compare base features, but ProjectorReviews is far better prepared to compare the QUALITY of streaming video on tablets. I contend that the kind of readers who care about the subtle image quality differences between same-class projectors, would probably be interested in tablet video QUALITY.

Ps. And besides if none of u have it, perhaps it's just that you haven't noticed what you are missing.

I have to say, I appreciate this, but I don't find the 3G part quite as relevant as you seem to. I know more than 10 people I can easily think of with Ipad's, and none of them are 3G capable models, nor have any of them said they wished they had it. In fact, what I hear from most of them is that it's an expensive waste of money they don't really understand.

I think the 3G requirement would really depend on the person and use of the Ipad. Most of the people I know with them use them as organization tools at work, and web browsing/communication at home.

This of course doesn't make the Amazon a true competitor, simply that the 3G would not be an issue for any of us.
