Greetings, home theater projector fans. I am sorry to inform you that this year’s Home Theater Projector Comparison report won’t go live this weekend. After much writing, and even more frustration, I’ve scrapped most of the report format used in previous years! The result should be a better report yet a shorter one. And it will be far, far, less redundant.

Panic Not. The delay in the Home Theater Projector report will only take a few more days. In the meantime, I will go forward, and publish this year’s winners on Sunday evening, but without the 50+ pages of sometimes rambling, supporting information.

The new Home Theater Projector Comparison Report report will be significantly shorter.

Here’s the good news: Accompanying the report, and including some of the best content repeated in each year’s report, will be our first ever:

Guide To Buying The Right Home Theater Projector For You.
Sometimes it takes me years for the lightbulb to go off. (Switching to LED!) It finally did. The problem with all the previous HT Projector Comparison Reports is that, at the end of the day, it picked the best projectors. Of course these projectors cover a wide range of abilities (and prices), with some projectors much better for one person’s type of use, some better for different type of usage – or environment.

The new Guide To Buying the Right Home Theater Projector For You, takes a different approach. It will help you understand your needs. It is User-centric, rather than Projector-Centric. The Guide will help you understand your own situation, and enough about projector features, that you should have little problem figuring out which great projector is definitely the one for you, and which other great projectors no matter how great they are, simply aren’t a good match. Our first attempt at something like this, of course is the 5-part video series we published a few months ago, Home Theaters: Choosing The Right Projector for Your Family or Media Room (click for part one, which covers brightness).

For you serious enthusiasts out there, there will be plenty in the Guide, that you already know, but there should be some good info for you to find. For those considering your first home projector, and others who simply aren’t fanatical about the details, this Guide should be just what you need, to gain a quick, and good understanding. And I promise it won’t be “novel” length, more like a short story or three.

We are already planning at least one other video that ties into the guide: Choosing the Right Projector for your Home Theater or Cave.

Sorry for the delay! both Guide and Report will be completed by the end of next weekend. Come April 1st and I have to be working on our time sensitive Education Projector report that I publish each year. -art

Greetings Projector enthusiasts, home theater addicts, and first time projector buyers!

Adding a Subscriber section to Projector Reviews is a tricky thing. I’m of the sort of person who hates finding out one day, that I have to pay for something that was free until today. I figure most other people resent that as well. Well, I value all of you enough, that I felt in launching a subscriber area I needed to offer additional content, rather than lock existing content behind a subscriber “paywall”.

For those of you who didn’t read the previous blogs: Our new site redesign, will be a major update, look completely different, and should be live late May or June. The previous blog even has a large image of the initial wireframe of the new homepage.

I’ve already warned in a couple of reviews, that we are collecting some data on projectors that we’ve never published. Soon that info will be available to you in the Subscriber area. (BTW the price isn’t set yet, but probably $12.99 a year, give or take).

Also available to subscribers will be some special offers. I can’t tell you any yet, because I’m just negotiating, nothing concrete. But, for example, I’m talking to 3 screen manufacturers so far, about providing a special $15-$25 additional savings when one of our subscribers buys their brand screen from a dealer (or direct if they sell direct), so the subscriber can register for the extra discount (which might be fulfilled with an itunes card, or pre-paid debit card, or… ), we’re still working on that.

I’m talking to the dealers who advertise on our site about making offers also, only for our subscribers. And I’m talking to projector manufacturers, of course. One idea I’ve bandied about, is a special rebate when a subscriber orders an extra pair of 3D glasses. Anything that makes sense. Basically I’m hoping to have 8-10 special offers, so that basically, any of our subscribers that buys a projector, or a screen, or perhaps a calibration disc, can get a value savings that’s more than the cost of our subscription! Fair enough? I mean, even without any offers, I expect you all to find the $12.99 (+/-) value just in the extra content provided , but, I figured why not sweeten the pot. Why not let you save a few dollars too.

So, what’s the new content? Perhaps the single most obvious thing is more detailed calibration information. We will be providing Calman graphic display data from Mike’s reviews, and we’ll be providing CMS – individual color calibration settings for most projectors we review. We already have that information set aside for about a dozen home theater projectors, and all new home projectors that have a proper CMS… That will all go live when the subscriber area is ready.

Want more? Of course. Short videos will be added to the subscriber area that will help understand features. For example I’m putting the finishing touches on a video about JVC’s “4K” e-shift2, which will show you how the different settings of e-shift2 significantly affect picture clarity.

There may also be short podcasts while I’m actually reviewing a projector. Perhaps a 30 second audio where I mention that “I’m looking at the XYZ and ABC projectors side by side in a fully darkened room. I’m starting with running the bond night train scene several times to look at dark shadow detail… here’s what I see… The standard photo of the Bond night train and the same from competing projectors, of course, will still be in the main review.

Videos. From the viewing counts I can see that many of you have watched some of our “Video Summaries of Reviews”. To date we’ve done about 25 Projector Reviews TV videos. It was the PR TV project that demanded the site redesign, and a subscriber area to make it complete. Here’s the scoop.

I wanted to produce a significant number of videos a year, but the cost in time and money is hefty. The idea was to create informational videos, such as our “How to Choose the Right Home Theater Projector for a Family Room Environment”, in 4 parts. Or Black Level Performance – why it’s so important… Problem has been the time and cost. The solution was to also create video summaries of some of our reviews. So, to accomplish this the goal was to approach the projector manufacturers. When I or other review sites publishes a review, it’s very common for the manufacturer to “buy” a Permission. That is, they pay for the priviledge to display our award graphic (Hot Product Award, etc.) and pull a quote or two from the review to use on their website, in their advertising, etc.

Basically I offered a pretty hefty Permission fee for us to create a video summary that the manufacturer advertiser could put on their site, give to their dealers, youtube, etc… I figured that the money coming in for the Permissions would cover the costs of all the the informational videos.

Oops, not so fast. Some manufacturers were very excited and have participated, but that created a problem. Not every manufacturer wants to “play”. OK, so, in theory, I don’t create a “video summaries” for their projectors. Seems reasonable, except, there are a few projectors that I would simply want to create a video for due to the importance of that projector in the market. Making those extra videos is an expensive “money losing” option. And from that, came the subscriber idea.

Here’s the examples: Look to the Projector Reviews TV page. Note lots of Epson videos – they pay for the priviledge. Sony is another… Mind you no hard feelings, but Panasonic decided for whatever reason (including possibly budget), not to buy a Permission for the Panasonic PT-AE8000U, a projector I consider a major player. I felt we needed to make that video, and we did. Lisa (she produces the videos) tells me that the PT-AE8000U video, the last of a batch of 10 will be ready this coming week). What to do?

Easy. The Panasonic PT-AE8000U video will be available for subscribers, but since there’s no “permission” they can’t put it on youtube, on their site, etc. Only our subscribers can view it.

Now this creates a dilemma I haven’t resolved. If the Subscriber area was live today, no question – PT-AE8000U video would be there, but since it’s still a couple of months away, I’m warning you all now. I may put it live on the PRTV page as a “loaner” from the subscriber area – think of it as an “advertisement” of the future goodies behind the “wall”. If I post the PT-AE8000U video next week, be assured it will be moved behind the subscriber wall when it launches. I think that’s fair. as always those “paid videos” will be open to all, those not, subscriber. In addition, we will up the number of informational videos, but some will be only for subscribers. You might expect something like this:

A four part video, perhaps: ”The 3D Revolution: Choosing the right projector for an awesome 3D viewing experience” (I’ve got to work in my title lengths.)

Part one of that Video would be on our site, and on Youtube. Parts 2 and 3 just on our site, and Part 4, a special segment only for subscribers. In our current site, that would be a three part video. Extra content for a 4th section will provide extra value for our subscribers.

We’re still coming up with ideas, but we think we can easily justify your roughly $1 a month, for the additional info (and we hope), entertainment. I don’t know yet if practical, but perhaps (no promise) an occasional scheduled podcast where we handle some of our subscribers questions or take on topics, or do an interview. I’m open to your ideas, just try to remember, we are a tiny organization, I am the only full time person. Now, I get less than 20 hours a week help from Lori and Lisa (wife and college student daughter – both who would rather be doing other things.) Other than the family, I pay Tony and Mike for their business projector reviews, and Mike to calibrate home theater projectors. Folks that’s it! So, go easy on “massive ideas.” Resources are limited. Of course if we can generate enough subscriber revenue, we can increase staffing. I’ve already started putting out feelers for a possible full time writer/reviewer for this summer, and alternately one or two more contract reviewer/writers.

That’s more than I intended to tell you so far, but there will be other updates before we launch. Hang in there! -art

Greetings,

Life is getting crazy, but I’ve been meaning for weeks to tell everyone, some details about the new Projector Reviews website, or should I say, redesigned and expanded.

There’s a lot to tell you. The site is currently being redesigned, by a company I recently hired. Expect the new www.projectorreviews.com site should launch end of May, or June. I’m going to tell you a good bit, but the important thing is, if you would like to make suggestions, now, is the time. Wireframes of the new Projector Reviews website will finished and coding started in a few weeks. Comment to this blog, if you would like to help us with those good suggestions!

The three aspects of the new site that are of greatest note are:

Major new ProjectorReviews.com look and feel. The new site engine will be WordPress based, rely more heavily on graphics a great User Interface, and use of panes for showing multiple photos. These changes will help accomplish two things. No more incredibly long page swith 20, 30, 40 or more screenfuls, that are typical of current reviews. Along with this the number of banners per page (not counting the microbannes) will be only about half of current levels. So, the new site should be cleaner/less cluttered, and easier to navigate.

Major new expansion: Smart Home Automation. Our move into this related area, will be launched with a Dream Home – connected home automation project. I figure everyone with a home projector would probably like to have it in a theater, and anyone with a theater, would like it automated – why not? And once you are automating, why not the rest of your house, as long as it’s not absurdly expensive, and can save on electric and heating, and…

Thus look for our new section “Smart Home by Projector Reviews.” The Smart Home will be an ongoing creation starting from an existing “pretty dumb” home, over the next 18-24 months, one project at a time. We will deal with an entire house, so when done, we’ll have wireless control of most things,

via wifi and other technologies, and virtually everything will be controllable by iPhone, iPad, Android… For a taste here’s one image showing the living room fixer upper we bought, shortly after we replaced the flooring (first thing we did). No, the floor, isn’t “smart, but all those lights you see will be.

Subscriber Area: We at Projector Reviews want to give you more information! We realize we have a large number of occasional or regular visitors, and also newbies (no offense) that visit regularly while shopping for their first projector. Our new subscriber area, will primarily add new content to the total, rather than take some of the content that has always been free, and put a price tag on it. Why not more info for free? Great idea, but, we are “the press”, and since I know you are all internet users, you likely know well, that monetarily; the online press struggles to survive on advertising. Oh, our site traffic has almost doubled in the last four years, but advertising revenues are pretty much stuck in low gear. I need to add full time reviewer, that only a subscriber area can help pay for. Such is life, or as Robert Heinlein made famous “There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch” (The phrase and the acronym are central to Robert Heinlein‘s 1966 science-fiction novel The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, which popularized it) – wiki (one of my fav short SF books, a classic! -a)

That’s what’s up here at Projector Reviews – big picture. Now a few details about each:

To give you a “taste” of the new site, which is still in wireframe design, here’s a shrunken down image of the the upper half of the homepage wireframe:

Preliminary (partial) Wireframe of Projector Reviews new homepage

Look for lots of panes for comparing images. For example, for our usual Fifth Element Starship image, now there will be the usual 420 wide image, but instead of 6-10 individual images from other projectors below it, those will be a single pane, and you can just scroll through to compare the same image, from different projectors, to the projector being reviewed. When youlick for a larger version, you’ll get 2 1000 wide images across one above the other, with the image from the review projector and below it, the large image of the selected competitor. Then you can just click to change competitor images. Cool?

Next I want to tell you a bit about the subscriber area benefits. and the Smart Home, connected home – Dream Home project. But, this blog is already too long, so I’ll do two more blogs – one on the new subscriber area and all the goodies it will include, and the second blog will tell you about the Smart Home Automation section and project.

And don’t forget, our 2013 Home Theater Projector Comparison report will publish in the next week!

thanks! -art

TANSTAAFL!

Greetings projector enthusiasts, newbies, purists… It’s almost time for the annual 1080p Home Theater Projector Comparison Report

I’m done reviewing for the next week or so. I started writing up the annual comparison report for home theater projectors two nights ago. I really expect to publish it by next Friday. Of course I tend to be optimistic about the timelines, as you all know, but I will try! I have to switch gears and starting working education projectors for the annual education report, which has to publish by mid-April, so I can’t slip too much.

Still a couple of things to mention. First, Acer shipped me another H9500BD projector, since I worked with an early one. This one has several fixes and more robust image control. I’ve been watching the H9500BD for the last few days, and I do believe I can say, that the current H9500BD is delivering more accurate color than we could get out of the early one reviewed over a year ago. Also someone already emailed me asking about new H9500BD calibration numbers. I will post the new results, replacing the old data in the Acer projector review’s existing calibration page. CMS settings, which we’ve never published for projectors, were taken, and will be saved for our newly redesigned website which should be ready before June 1st.

While the results of the Acer’s calibration likely won’t be posted until after the report is finished, the new performance will be considered in our awards selection process.

The other news is that Epson just asked me if I would like their new 750HD to review. I had to tell them we couldn’t tackle it immediately, but I would take a good look, and add a small piece on it, in the report, and do a “first look” blog.

I had hoped to get in a Panasonic Solid Shine projector for a quick look at, and also write about it briefly, in the report. It’s technically a business projector series, but they have a 3500 lumen, 1080p projector claiming 20,000:1 contrast ratio. They say it is ideal for sports bars… It may well be a sensational solution for people needing an REALLY bright projector, where good black levels not great ones, are acceptable.

Enough! It’s time to tell you all a bit about the new site. I’ve mentioned it in some reviews, maybe a blog. That will be my next blog! -art

Hi all,

Lisa, Art’s daughter here. I’m home from college for the holidays, but we’re hard at work over here to bring you some great Projector Reviews TV videos, including review summaries, special topics and FAQs.

Because December has been a big month for us video-wise, I thought I’d highlight some of our newest videos.

As far as projector reviews, we’ve got video review summaries of two hot Epson projectors, the Home Cinema 5020UB and the Pro Cinema 6020UB.

Remember, a projector or accessory becomes eligible for a video summary when it earns one of the Projector Reviews awards, including our Hot Product Awards and Best In Class Awards.

We’ve also brought you Parts 2-4 of Choosing the Right Home Theater Projector for your Family Room (click here for Part 1, released in October). The new segments include:

Part 2: Budget

Part 3: Key Projector Features

Part 4: Projector Placement

“Part 5: 3D” is on its way and will be here by New Year’s.

We have a few other videos currently in post-production, so stay tuned for these in the coming weeks:

Epson Home Cinema 3020

Panasonic PT-AE8000U

Sony VPL-VW1000ES

Sony VPL-HW50ES

And there’s still more on the way! Look forward to other topics coming up, including: understanding the importance of black levels, an overview of pico and pocket projectors, a guide to our website, and more!

For a complete list of finished Projector Reviews TV videos, click here.

Happy holidays everyone!

Greetings all,

Sharp's 3D capable, XV-Z30000 home theater projector

Today our second Sharp XV-Z30000 projector arrived. The first, some of you may remember, arrived about 3 weeks ago, but it was freight damaged. (Someone did an impressive job on the box.) It powered up, but operationally it was a disaster, with a major problem with the “light engine”.

XV-Z30000 number two, exhibits no immediately obvious problems. I’ve had it running for about 3 hours, mostly watching the Olympics. As I write this I’ve got the woman’s Beach Volley Ball finals on, in fact, May/Walsh is one point from winning the goal. Pause… They won another gold! Cool. color’s really good, I’m currently using Movie 1, the brighter of two movie modes (mostly the difference seems to be which brightness mode, which iris settings between Movie 1 and 2). Skin tones look really good. Note: I’m watching beach volleyball, there’s plenty of tanned skin to observe. Movie mode is probably a tad over saturated, but it could be the feed.

Normally, I’d have this XV-Z30000 in Sports mode, or one of the other bright modes. Sports looks Really Good! Brighter, yet still rather good skin tones on the Olympics. I started in Movie, because that’s where it was when I powered it up. Stage is even brighter, and punchier. It seems to be the brightest. I’m going to switch to it in a minute. Perhaps a little over the top, but boy are those colors saturated (over a bit). POP! WOW! One of the User modes looks very bright and good as well, it may be the same as one of the others. BTW there’s an Anime mode, talk about high contrast – very saturated… That should cut through some ambient light without washing out.

The XV-Z30000 projector has motorized zoom and focus, and motorized lens shift too. The amount of ranges is good enough without breaking out the manual, to place the bottom of the image even with the lens, basically a 0 offset. That won’t match the amount of lens shift found on most 3LCD and LCoS projectors, it still should serve most folks pretty well.

My guess is that the Sharp XV-Z30000 projector isn’t going to measure as near as bright as the BenQ W7000 or, say, the Epson 5010. Still, I wouldn’t be surprised if we have 1500 hundred lumens in Stage which is the brightest mode. I haven’t fired up the Epson 5010 I have here, for some side by side, which would allow me to have a very good idea of brightness. Well, I could break out the meter too, but what’s the fun in that. Better, I’m going to take a quick look at some movies, to take a peek at blacks… BTW, the projector claims 2 irises, at least that’s how they are described in the menus. Forgive me, but I probably haven’t seen a spec sheet on this since it was announced earlier this year.

Since I’m traveling tomorrow – 3 days of music (Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Jack White, Beck, Foo Fighters, Explosions in the Sky, and dozens of other great bands) at the Outside Lands festival in Golden Gate with my daughter Lisa (producer of the Projector Reviews TV videos), which should be a blast. When I get back on Monday, Mike will have the XV-Z30000 all measured and calibrated, and I can really settle in for some viewing, and get used to the projector.

I haven’t tried 3D yet.

Done, I only spent 5 minutes with Casino Royale, after all, I am watching the Olympics with my wife. Dark shadow detail is really excellent. Crank up brightness enough and it looks more like a daylight scene, and the detail in the shrubs, and trees is all there.

Black levels of the XV-Z30000 projector look to be very good for a DLP these days. I’m pretty certain it’s not a match for the Epson, and definitely not the JVC X70R, but on the other hand, is probably better, than several other good projectors including the PT-AE7000.

I know this is going to drive a bunch of you crazy, not much in detail, but as I wrap this up, it’s only a couple of hours since I first unpacked it. I’m not even sure what the XV-Z30000 will sell for. I can tell you that the MSRP is $4999, but after a discussion with someone at Sharp, I got the feeling they see it slugging it out with the lowest cost Sony and JVC projectors, the Epson 5010, W7000, which would indicate it selling for well below $5K. Found a price on Amazon, but don’t know if product is out there yet.

That’s it for now! Hang in there. The full review should be up by next weekend – around the 18th or 19th.

I am thoroughly enjoying the XV-Z30000 projector so far. I have always liked really good DLP projectors and this just may be one of the better ones available. We shall see, soon enough.

On other topics, we have about a dozen videos in post production, we’ve just completed one on the Epson MG850HD all-in-one projector, and a similar one covering the less expensive MG50 (they share some footage). We also have a video of the Optoma PK320 pico projector that should be up in the next couple of days.

Then, the video company will start churning out the 9 videos that are topical: Choosing the right screen, Choosing the Right projector for a family room environment, Black levels, etc.

You’ll find the newly posted reviews on the Projector Reviews TV tab on the masthead. Check them out! -art

Greetings projector fans!

I’ve been playing with a concept which I call Projector Reviews TV, for about a year, and it’s coming to fruition this month. NO, I’m not launching a projector focused TV channel on DirecTV or cable. It’s not even a regular podcast. Here’s the skinny on Projector Reviews TV and a link to the first video:For several years I’ve been creating some video summaries of our projector reviews. The purpose started out as a source for extra revenues. For me to do those friendly (classic youtube amateur), videos, I made them a marketing item. (We explained that those had been paid for videos, but reflect the key points of the full review (more fun, cover far less turf). Those manufacturers (mostly Epson and Mitsubishi), could then link to the video on our site, from theirs, put out a press release pointing to it. The manufacturers have no option to preview the videos, or require any changes.

Well, we weren’t doing very many, or bringing in an significant revenues that way. Video’s big now (who would have thunk?).

We’re now going to start doing a lot of videos. The name we came up with for our new video library of FAQ’s, and Reviews is Projector Reviews TV. We’ve hired a video production company (Gentlemen of Fortune Productions) and contracted to what works out to about 30 videos between now and year end. Some will be more video summaries of projector reviews, many will be video FAQs on a wide range of related topics.

We started with one projector, the Panasonic’s PT-AR100U, for our first pass at creating a look and format. It was completed, and we figured not bad. The second video, an Epson, we’re still waiting to see the final, but it should be even better, as we’ve improved the structure. All future video review summaries should be similar to the Epson, but even better and more organized, and will include a proper tour of the projector, which the first two lack. We’re still trying to fine tune the process.

This coming Monday, July 16th will be the next video shoot, doing all the ones mentioned below.

Mind you these aren’t necessarily the exact titles:

Choosing the BEST Projector for a family room type environment, Part 1, Part 2.

Choosing the right type of screen Part 1, Part 2

Black Level performance – why it’s important!

plus: Two videos of different all-in-one projectors, and possibly one Pico projector

Note: The scripts for the ones shown in bold are completed and ready for Monday’s shoot. Hopefully we’ll have the last ones ready as well.

Where can you find these videos? All of them will be posted on our site, listed under the Projector Reviews TV channel, which will be set up as soon as we have 4 or 5 completed. Meantime links will be placed inside the original reviews, in directories, our FAQ page…

In addition, to help get the word out, and help folks who haven’t found ProjectorReviews.com yet, Part 1 videos will also be posted on YouTube.

We think this is going to be fun, and helpful for those folks who like learning by video.

We plan a second video shoot late August with about 8 more FAQ videos and perhaps 2 or 3 more projector review video summaries. A third batch, probably produced in November, will feature some of the new home projectors that will launch at CEDIA in early September.

OK enough hype. Here’s a link to that first video, the Panasonic PT-AR100U home projector. Just click on the link on the table of contents, and you’ll be watching video in seconds.

That’s enough for this blog. We’re excited here about Projector Reviews TV. Your feedback is welcome.

Ah, time for credits: Lisa, who is already managing of all our social media activities, is also managing the Projector Reviews TV project, with an assist from me. I should note, Lisa will also be “acting” in some of our videos. (Why should I have all the fun?)

Thanks! No go back and check out our first Projector Reviews TV video!!! -art

The Best In Classroom awards are up! If you haven’t read about them in-depth yet, here’s a taste:

The Classroom Projector Report divides the 16 projectors considered into two classes, “Interactive” and “Standard” (non-interactive).

For the second year in a row, an Epson BrightLink model took our Best in Classroom award for the interactive class. The BrightLink 485Wi (click for full review) is truly impressive, correcting all complaints we had about its forerunner, the 455Wi. Aside from not having 3D capability (potentially problematic for a few of you out there), it has excellent networking, the best warranty of all projectors considered (3 years P/L and 3 year replacement program), great color and brightness and the best interactive feature set we’ve reviewed.

For the standard projector class, it was the all-new BenQ LW61ST (click for full review) projector that earned our Best in Classroom award! This innovative BenQ boasts a laser light source (not an LED/laser hybrid like Casio uses) that means low cost of operation. It has networking capabilities and is 3D ready. The BenQ even has an optional pen to add interactivity. It really does it all.

Two truly great projectors.

In addition to these two Best in Classroom awards, we also came up with 3 Runner-Up award winners, one interactive and two standard. Make sure you read the report to see which projectors took these titles, as they are great choices too!

We tended to find ourselves weighting our awards toward those projectors with extremely long life lamps or hybrid light sources, due to their lower long-term cost of operation. If this was a report focused primarily for business people, likely there would have been less emphasis on the light source.

This year’s crop of projectors overall shows definite real improvement over last year’s, always a good thing! More lumens, lower cost of operation, more interactivity, and, in general, more features/benefits. -art

Lisa, Art’s daughter, here. You may have seen my named mentioned in a few reviews (“great for my daughter and her friends” or “just waiting on my daughter Lisa for the last couple images – she’s in the midst of final exams at school”). If you don’t know, I too work here at Projector Reviews. I do a little of everything–image processing for reviews, technical writing for smaller projector comparisons… But most recently, I handle our social media.

You may have noticed the recent addition of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn logos around our site. These links and buttons are here to keep YOU in the loop about all things Projector Reviews. If you’re involved on any of these social networking platforms, you can now follow, like, share, recommend, watch, or listen to Projector Reviews in more places than just our website… Cool huh?

You can Like us on Facebook here.

YouTube – Definitely what we’re most excited about… Projector Reviews is back on YouTube! We’ve got a couple of older video reviews and teasers online now, but we’ve got A LOT of fun new material coming down the pipeline. I’ve seen the new videos, and they look awesome (and that says something, since they’re of my dad)! Stay tuned for a new, fresh and exciting angle of video review! Subscribe here.

Greetings,
No projectors today, as this is the first day of the Outside Lands festival in Golden Gate park. I’m here with Lisa, the daughter, for three days, then across the bridge from San Francisco, to Berkeley where we unload her (and all her stuff) for another year of college.

Should be a great festival with headliners including Phish, Muse, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Deadmau5, etc. Might even blog from the festival a couple of times, but no promises.

Back to the grind, Tuesday night.

Confirmed, one of the new Optoma 1080p projectors now promised before end of this month.
On other matters, I am working on the 1080p home theater report, these days. Part, including the winners, will post late next week.
Hang in there, while we enjoy a few days of great music at outside lands.

Ps. Im a huge Arcade Fire fan (especially their 1st album. I heard Arcade Fire first time at Coachella festival a bunch of years ago…)
