Greetings, I’ll keep this short and sweet. I will immediately be updating the key previous blog on the new projectors as well as the “First Look” Previews posted on the main www.projectorreviews.com website.
My error, I had mis-understood that the e models, the Home Cinema 3010e and the Home Cinema 5010e would differ by offering wirelessHD, instead of 3D, for the same price. (I’ve got to learn to listen better.)
As it turns out, the Home Cinema 3010e has both 3D and WirelessHD, by comparison, the Home Cinema 3010 has 3D but no Wireless HD. I had the price correct for the Home Cinema 3010, at $1599, but the Home Cinema 3010e, with both capabilities, will be $1799.
The same story for the Home Cinema 5010 and 5010e:
Expect the Home Cinema 5010e to cost a bit more than the Home Cinema 5010, due to the addition of the WirelessHD, but so far Epson hasn’t released any prices. We expect that to happen on Thursday. I’ll be meeting with them, on Thursday, so look for an update from me later that day.
Finally, the Epson Pro Cinema 6010 projector, as the flagship, also has both 3D and Wireless HD.
That’s it, sorry about my error. -art

Introducing two new series of 3D capable Epson home theater projectors. Believe it or not, we’re talking two different core projectors, and several variations, including a very interesting twist!!!

Epson launches new 3D Home theater projectors - Home Cinema 5010
Everything I now know about these projectors is going live at the same time, although I’m splitting all the info into this blog and five separate articles on our main projectorreviews.com website, one for each new projector. Read the rest of this entry »

UPDATE: The Optoma HD33 projector review is now posted!
Greetings sports fans,
I’m typing while sitting 10 feet from a 100″ diagonal image of a pre-season NFL game. I’m watching in the User mode, which Mike set up as best mode, calibrated to 6500K. For the 100″ screen in my dark surfaced room, even with all the back lights on (it’s night), the picture looks plenty bright. Colors Read the rest of this entry »

8/22 – My apologies. I have pulled down the images of the “rumored Epson”. I’ve done this at Epson’s request, and I understand their issues, and I’m not here with the goal of being the first to reveal ultra super secret photos of the 2016 Mercedes AMG, or the latest pics of the Kardashians. So basically I didn’t have a real problem with that. Well, it was fun while it lasted. They assure me “accurate photos” soon?
OK, I published some minimal rumors I picked up, just last week. Today, I have something exciting for you:
One of you readers (thanks) sent me a link to a Read the rest of this entry »

Optoma HD33 - lowest cost 3D capable 1080 projector
UPDATE: The Optoma HD33 projector review is now posted!
Greetings all!
Following up on yesterday’s brief blurb, the HD33 from Optoma, a $1499 1080p projector enters the market as the least expensive 3D capable so far, with full HD resolution. With the exception
of their own slightly more expensive HD3300, it seems that all the other 3D capable projectors so far will cost you a minimum of $1000 – $1500 more.
The HD33 may end up being a “twofer” for those into really high performance. For example, some folks with budgets for big Sony’s and JVC’s – say upward of $6K, may decide that if they want 3D, it makes more sense to pick out the best 2D projector in their price range, PLUS buying a 3D projector like the HD33, for their 3D viewing pleasure, and maybe even sports since the HD33 is still brighter in 2D as well!
Afterall, all those expensive 3D projectors we’ve seen so far, offer only tolerable Read the rest of this entry »

Greetings all,
Call it a rumor, smoke and mirrors, a future product, and toss in some educated guesses, but it seems almost certain that Epson will have a shiny new 3D projector to roll out at CEDIA and, in Europe, at IFA. Of course such a new Epson projector will be 2D first as well as 3D, which is typical of all the other 3D projectors.
I’ve been digging, but I can’t even get an Epson model number! (I could guess, but why bother.) What I’ve got for you is better than, but not drastically so, then when Panasonic put out a 1 line press release at Infocomm that they would have a new 3D projector. (Of course just two weeks ago, those guys showed it to us press). With Epson, so far, just a rumor or two.
Word would have it that Epson’s first 3D projector will sport the same 3LCD panels Read the rest of this entry »

Greetings from Panasonic West. Ok, not really! Panasonic in the US, is HQ’d in Secaucus, NJ. But they have their digital labs out by Universal Studios in LA. Today, I got a first look at Panasonic’s PT-AE7000 (click for specifications) 3D and 2D, 1080p home theater projector!
It will be shipping in September! I asked, they could not tell me when in Sept – early or late, or… We’ll just have to see.
A quick comment then some details. I had the opportunity to see a good hour plus of assorted 3D content, including Ice Age 3, and Read the rest of this entry »

Greetings, here’s the short version:
Mitsubishi’s HC9000D is another excellent 2D projector with 3D capabilities, competing with similarly capable projectors in the $4K – $12K range. It’s got a few more lumens for 3D than the Sony VW90ES, and the Sharp XV-Z17000, even more compared the JVC RS60…
The HC9000D has a great CFI for movie viewing! That’s a real highlight for me. The HC9000′s dynamic iris is smooth, but very slow.

I haven’t been
able to track down a preliminary data sheet for the HD3300 projector, who’s news leaked at Infocomm, but there seems to be some consensus, as to what the HD3300 is.
It would seem that the Optoma HD3300 is a more feature laden HD33. The primary difference should be that the HD3300 is equipped with HDMI 1.4a, and is compatible with Blu-ray 3D and other 1080p HD sources such as satellite or cable. This would separate it from the HD33 which looks to be Read the rest of this entry »
