Canon LV-8310 Projector: Bottom Line
Overall, the LV-8310 is neither a stellar or poor performer in its class. It does a lot of things (good color, brightness and portability) well and nothing poorly. If this were a year ago, it would be among the better performers in its class. However, over the past year, other manufacturers have upped the ante in the multimedia projector class. Today’s sub-$1000 projectors regularly display good color, higher contrast ratios, increased brightness, longer lamp life and longer warranties. As a result, the LV-8310 tends to fall in the middle of a very crowded field. Even its implementation of a digital input uses DVI, which has generally been replaced in the market with HDMI. It’s a solid performer, but doesn’t stand out in today’s market.
There is certainly nothing about the LV-8310 that will disappoint the Canon faithful, but it may be hard-pressed to bring in new customers who are unaware of Canon’s reputation for accurate color reproduction.
