Epson Home Cinema 5010 Home Theater Projector Review
The Home Cinema 5010, and the 5010e come with a two year parts and labor warranty, which in this price range is typical in length. There are a couple of one year warranties, and even a couple offer three years. What sets the Epsons apart is their replacement program.
Both Epson models also come with a replacement program for both years of the warranty. A couple of other companies in the price range offer a one year replacement or loaner program, but most offer just basic warranties.
Epson has always offered a combination of great warranty and support. If you have a warranty repair, Epson will expedite you a replacement projector out of their fleet. They will pay the freight to you, and pay the shipping for you to ship your broken one back. They will put a hold on a credit card, to make sure they get a projector back. That’s pretty SOP (standard operating procedure) in the industry (the credit card – replacement programs are rare in home theater).
Depending on the time of day you call, your replacement projector might actually arrive the next business day, or the following. You can’t beat that.
Epson provides owners with a hotline number. Calls go directly to the tech support folks, typically in under 2 minutes. When I owned Presenting Solutions and was a large online dealer, we always considered Epson’s support to be excellent. Nothing I’ve heard since, would indicate otherwise.
You are going to be hard pressed to find a better warranty on any projector anywhere near its price.
