Epson Powerlite 96W Projector Overview
The Epson Powerlite 96W is a compact, widescreen WXGA (1280 X 800) LCD projector with a feature set and price that will have particular appeal for educational presentations. In addition to the usual Epson network and PC-free presentation capabilities, the 96W features a powerful 16-watt speaker with a microphone input on the projector. This audio output is more than sufficient for presentations in the classroom or conference room, without the need for powered external speakers. The 96W can be connected to a computer or video source via a standard VGA cable, composite and S-video, HDMI, USB and wired or wireless 802.11 b/g/n. It can also present directly from a USB thumb drive. The 96W has a rated output of 2700 lumens and a 1.2X zoom lens, as well as digital zooming.
The Epson Powerlite 96W is quick to set up, with height-adjustable rear feet in addition to the usual center front height adjustment. Precise keystone adjustments to each of the four corners of the displayed image are facilitated by Epson’s Quick Corner feature. For those who don’t need a widescreen image, the Epson Powerlite 95 is available for $100 less than the 96W. The 95 is essentially the same as the 96W, but is rated at 2600 lumens instead of 2700 and is XGA (1024 X 768) resolution.
While the 96W is not billed as a portable projector, its compact size and light weight (7.2 lbs.) makes it easy to transport between class or conference rooms.
