Mitsubishi XD500U

At first glance, the Mitsubishi XD500U, is just another one of those under $1000 selling price “entry level” DLP business projectors. Looking closer, however reveals the XD500U to have a few extras going for it. With XGA resolution, the XD500U offers 2200 lumens in full power and 1760 in low power (where the lamp is rated 3000 hours. That’s plenty of power for the typical conferenceroom or classroom. At 6.5 pounds, it’s not as mobile as some much lighter projectors, but, is typical in size and weight, and suitable for local travel, and easily small enough for airline carry-on. Unlike many other low cost portables, the XD500U has a monitor out, in addition to a computer input, and this makes it viable for use with desktop computers, as well as laptops. Best of all, however is the famous Mitsubishi warranty. Not only is it 3 years parts and labor, but Mitsubishi provides its ERA replacement program for all three years, making this the best warranty available on a sub-$1000 portable business projector.
