Overview of the NEC M322W Projector

The NEC M322W is a compact, WXGA (1280 X 800) DLP projector with a feature set that should be appealing to both educational and business presenters. In addition to network and PC-free presentation capabilities, the M322W features a built-in, 20-watt speaker, quick on and off, DICOM SIM mode and built-in wall color correction presets. The audio output is more than sufficient for presentations in the classroom or conference room, without the need for powered external speakers. The M322W can be connected to a computer or video source via a standard VGA cable, composite video, S-video, two HDMI inputs, USB and wired or wireless (with optional module) 802.11 b/g/n. It can also present directly from a USB thumb drive. The M322W has a rated output of 3200 lumens and a 1.7X zoom lens, as well as digital zooming.

The NEC M322W is relatively quick to set up, with a quick start feature, automatic syncing and automatic keystone correction to square the image once you have it close. The Auto lamp power feature adjusts the power level of the lamp depending on the brightness of the projected image, thus resulting in power savings and potentially improved lamp life. It also offers extremely long lamp life (10,000 hours) in Eco mode. With no filter to clean or replace, the M322W should be operating for a long time without maintenance.

The M322W is one of a family of seven projectors in the M series. There are two more WXGA projectors, the M362W and the M402W, rated at 3600 and 4000 lumens respectively.  The other four are all XGA resolution, starting with the M282X, which is rated at 2800 lumens like the M322W.  Next are the M322X, which is rated 3200 lumens, the M362X rated at 3600 lumens and the M402X, which is rated at 4000 lumens.

The M322W comes with a handy carrying case and its compact size and light weight (7.7 lbs.) makes it easy to transport between class or conference rooms.

Warranty and Support

The M322W is covered by NEC’s standard warranty and support policies as follows: There is a two year parts and service warranty on the projector and a 500-hour or one year (whichever comes first) warranty on the lamp. The lamp warranty is much better than the usual 90-day warranty seen with many projectors. NEC also includes one year of their Instacare program which works as follows: The customer calls a toll-free number and speaks to a technician to see if the problem can be resolved over the phone. If the technician is unable to resolve the issue, a material return authorization (MRA) number is issued and NEC ships the customer a replacement unit (upon obtaining a credit card for security). The customer has 21 calendar days from the date of shipment of the replacement unit to return the defective unit to NEC.
