Optoma HD70 Projector Review - Warranty

Posted on October 14, 2006 by Art Feierman

Thank you Optoma. Almost all low cost projectors (under $1500) come with only a 1 year warranty, as do a number of more expensive ones.

Not so the Optoma HD70 which provides a 2 year parts and labor warranty. (I normally recommend people buying projectors with one year warranties to spring for an extended warranty for the $100+ or so. Afterall, most projector repairs tend to be expensive out of warranty, and in this price range, especially if you have a lot of hours on your lamp, and only a one year warranty, there's a good chance that with a failure, your projector becomes a throw-away.

This is a real plus. I should note that two competitors I have previously mentioned, the InFocus IN72 (a lower resolution projector with really excellent performance in most areas, and the Mitsubishi HD1000U, perhaps the projector most similar overall, to the HD70, come with only one year.
