Panasonic PT-VX400NT Projector: Bottom Line
I was quite satisfied with the performance of the Panasonic PT-VX400NT. The color quality in the VX400NT’s brightest mode is equal or better than many projectors in their Standard mode. This makes using the brightest mode a viable option, even for photo or other presentations that require more accurate color than mainly text-based presentations. With almost 3600 lumens in its brightest mode (and full wide zoom), the PT-VX400NT can hold its own in virtually any sized venue, even with minimal light control. While rated lamp life is only average in Normal lamp mode, maintenance time and costs are kept to a minimum by Panasonic’s 6000-hour filter system.
In any video mode, presentations are blessed with solid color reproduction, making this projector a good choice for photo presentations. Additionally, due to its good LCD panel convergence, the PT-VX400NT provides one of the sharper pictures you’ll find in a 3-chip LCD projector. Further, its networking abilities are second to none.

The Panasonic PT-VX400NT has a lot going for it and its price point should be very attractive to the buyer who needs a high output projector in a reasonably-sized package. Compared with other LCD projectors in its class, it offers a brighter picture and similar performance, at a slightly higher price. For example, the Epson 96W we reviewed last year is not as bright, but does have a widescreen format, longer lamp life in Normal mode and similar presentation abilities at a 25% lower price.
Nonetheless, the Panasonic PT-VX400NT deserves serious consideration from a presenter who can take advantage of its ability to project from up to 16 networked computers, as well as its ability to project wirelessly from an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
