Crestron Opens New Customer Experience Center in Southern California – Press Release

March 3rd, 2012 admin
Comments by Projector Reviews staff:
Art was able to attend the grand opening of Crestron’s Experience Center, up in Cypress, CA, near the border between LA county, and Orange County.  (about 45 minutes from our offices.
A great looking facility, classrooms, etc., but most impressive was the “display room” where they must have had most of the different products they make, all organized into areas.  I was able to learn a lot in a short time.  Of particular note, one part of a wall was dedicated to DMX control.  Most folks who are familiar, are aware that DMX is used to control lighting, and is widely used in theaters, concert halls, by bands, discos, clubs…
We’re already using DMX in our house/office, and ultimately make choose extron for the whole house aspects of automation, and then integrated all our existing DMX lighting into the home system so it can easily be controlled from everywhere and anywhere…

We are currently talking with Crestron, and a couple of their competitors, with plans to choose a partner for our upcoming 2 year automation project which will be documented and blogged on as we add more and more capability to the project, talk about issues and problems that come up, and ultimately, how it all turns out.

Important news about 3D Active glasses for LCDTV’s and Projectors – Press Release

April 6th, 2011 admin
Greetings from the Projector Reviews staff:

We created this blog to keep you apprised of as many new projector announcements as we are aware of.
This release, however, is not about a projector, but a new standard (we hope), that will allow all the lcdTV and projectors to have compatible 3D glasses. XPand, the best known brand of active glasses, is a key partner, along with a large number of major lcdtv and projector manufacturers.
Keep in mind, that this is a newly proposed standard.  Read that to have significant impact on your current decisions, it means that it’s likely that none of the currently shipping 3D LCDTVs, Plasmas, and Projectors, are likely to be using glasses that will meet this standard, or it will be one company’s (but which).  That means if you buy your new LCDTV or Plasma today, from Sharp, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, LG, etc, your expensive glasses aren’t likely to work properly (or at all) with next year’s products that your friends are buying, and you are buying (perhaps, for another room).
In other words, such a standard is a Wonderful idea, an important one, but it’s too late for those that have already bought, or plan to buy in the next few months, before the next generation of 3D projectors and plasmas and 3D LCDTVs is shipping.  Also note, although there are many key players on the list of those agreeing to this new standard for 3D glasses, there are plenty of big players still absent, and that could mean a 3D glasses technology civil war, between active types, along with the war between active and passive glasses…    Most notably missing is, of course Sony, but also Visio, Samsung and LG, to name a few.
Let’s hope for once, they can all learn to play together.   Weigh all this before you decided to blow some big bucks for a 3D LCDTV, or 3D Projector.
