NEW SANYO ULTRA-PORTABLE PROJECTOR WITH
INTELLIGENT LAMP CONTROL SYSTEM PRODUCES
HIGH BRIGHTNESS WITH VERY LOW POWER CONSUMPTION
- Eco-friendly projector features very low power consumption, up to 69% less than conventional projectors
Highly portable projector has compact size and lightweight to enable easy mobility for use in multiple locations
- Intelligent lamp control system controls light output according to image requirements, while producing 4000 lumens brightness and 2000:1 contrast ratio
- Color shift correction technology ensures color accuracy at all brightness levels
- Long-life filter and lamp reduce operating costs
CHATSWORTH, CA.—January 18, 2011 – SANYO North America Corporation, a subsidiary of SANYO Electric Co., Ltd., one of the world’s largest manufacturers of LCD and DLP projectors, announced today the introduction of an ultra compact and portable XGA projector with high brightness and very low power consumption. The PLC-XU4000 delivers an impressive high brightness of 4000 lumens in an easily transportable chassis that weighs just seven pounds. Through SANYO’s newly developed intelligent lamp control system, the 1024×768 resolution XGA projector achieves a contrast ratio of 2000:1, with power consumption reduced up to 69% in comparison to conventional models. The PLC-XU4000 is scheduled for availability in January 2011, at an MSRP of just $1,545.99.
By expanding the range of lamp control through newly developed technology, SANYO has enabled low-power operation and extended bulb life while retaining very high image quality. The lamp control range has been greatly expanded, from about 30% to 70%, and the new system operates by analyzing the video signal and automatically adjusting lamp brightness according to image requirements.
When the lamp control reduces light output in response to image changes, it is possible for shifts in color to occur in the projected image. To correct for this, SANYO’s new color shift correction technology compensates for any deviations in real time, ensuring color accuracy at all brightness levels. The use of these technologies enables the projector to combine low power consumption with a high contrast ratio. Read the rest of this entry »

LG HW300T/HX350T
Comments by Projector Reviews staff:
The LG has broadband connectivity! Key points about the new HW300T (and HX350T) projectors from LG use a 30,000 hour LED lamp. They also offer 2000:1 contrast ratio, always a very respectable spec, even for full sized projectors. Add to that, built-in stereo sound, and you have a slightly hefty (only by pico and pocket projector standards) 1.7 lb projector. Getting to the important stuff, it’s got 250 lumens. Here’s the big feature benefit, though, is the LG HW300T’s broadband functionality allowing it to work without a computer. You can Facebook and Twitter and such. The connectivity could prove very impressive, and…useful!

The HW300T is LG’s first portable projector compatible with all DLNA-certified devices, meaning consumers can easily and wirelessly transfer stored digital content from devices such as personal computers and watch it through their projector. It also includes a built-in ATSC tuner (also included with the HX350T), allowing consumers to watch Free HD Broadcast signals without the need for a separate external content source.

Aaxa L1 v2
Comments by Projector Reviews staff:
The L1 v2 is an updated version of AAXA’s L1. Offering advances in its laser light technology, this new version promises a better, sharper picture than its predecessor with less visible pixels. Laser pico projectors have been a mixed bag so far, with some advantages and some disadvantages. We’re hopeful that this is a next generation of laser engine, with less sparkle. If this projector is basically the same, but with a new light engine, we’ll take a look and see how much it improves on last year’s.
Press Release

The unique three-color laser light source enables the L1 v2 to produce images with amazing color saturation that are always in focus. Designed for mobile professionals and entertainment, the AAXA L1 v2 pocket projector combines a revolutionary laser light source, proprietary despeckling technology, and an LCoS imager to achieve a 20 lumen output at 800×600 resolution without the pixilation problems found in some laser projectors.
The flexibility offered by the L1 v2 laser light source opens up a new world of possibilities in projection applications. The focus-free operation allows for rapid changes in projection size, simultaneous far and near surface projection, angled projection, and projection on curved and other non-flat surfaces. Its ultra-efficient optical engine enables the L1 v2 to produce rich images even in less-than-dark environments – and color-rich images up to 50″ in dark environments. Combined with onboard 1.5 hour battery, the L1 v2 operates as a true hand-held laser projector without the need for any cables or external power source. Read the rest of this entry »
