Viewsonic PLED-W500 Review Coming Soon!
Greetings,
I have a few unexpected things happen over the last couple of weeks. I was hoping to have this review up last week, but then life happened. From what I have seen so far, I really like this little guy. This time around I will be using my PS3 for gaming, and streaming etc.. I really enjoyed my first pico projector, the Vivitek Qumi, I am hoping this one will impress me just as much. The price is a bit too high for my taste, but I will reserve judgment on that until I put some real hours into it.

BenQ W7000 Pre-Production Unit
Greetings,
I was at Art’s and got a sneak peek at the new BenQ. I had the opportunity to play Uncharted 3 (PS3) in 2D and 3D. Art also put on Legends of Flight in 3D. I was really impressed with the 3D Blu-ray, and 2D gaming. The 3D gaming seemed a bit better on this projector, but I was using a console (not a PC) and the 720p resolution was still hard to deal with on such a large screen. It seems at this point and time you have to sacrifice brightness and resolution in order to game in 3D, whether on a console or PC. I am hoping that they start producing some good 1080p, 3D games in the near future and that Nvidia 3D Vision has the capability of displaying them in their full 1080p glory. Without waiting for months on end for projector compatibility updates to the 3D Vision software.
I was pretty impressed with the BenQ overall, but Art did mention that the black level on the pre-production unit was not quite as good as the Acer H9500BD. That all could change when he gets the finished production model within the next couple of weeks. Also keep in mind that the BenQ is priced significantly higher than the Acer, so the Acer is still the better overall value.
I should get a production model of the Epson 5010 to review for gaming in mid January. I doubt the 3D gaming aspect will work on the PC *crosses fingers*, but I still can’t wait to game on it nonetheless.

Optoma HD33 3D Projector Review Update

Greetings,
I am working on the review, but have encountered a snag with the 3D part of the review. It will probably be a few more days before I can finish up. I have a feeling it is a compatibility issue with the projector, and Nvidia 3D Vision. It is not on the compatibility list, and the 3D Vision software only supports HDMI 1.3 from what I have read on Nvidia’s site. There is new software out to remedy this issue, but Art is contacting Nvidia directly to see if that is the issue. Once I receive the software I will be able to get the 3D up and running. Here is a link to the software I am referring to:

Other than that, I am liking the HD33, and I love the Nvidia GeForce GTX580. This is a video card that can take anything you throw at it, and I highly recommend it based on the past few weeks of gaming with it. I am sure the 590 is better. Although I feel the 590 is a bit overpriced, but that’s because I am a cheapskate…ha ha.
Take care,

Optoma GT720 Gaming Projector Review
I will admit, coming from the Epson 8700UB I was a bit underwhelmed. I then got over the fact of trying to compare this $699 projector to a $2,000+ projector, and was ready to judge it for what it really is; Read the rest of this entry »
