Unit Shipments of Personal Projectors Expected to Nearly Double by 2017 – Press Release

 

New Report by PMA Research and Insight Media Provides Forecasts for the Pico, Personal and Embedded Mobile Projector Markets

 

San Juan Capistrano, California – January 28, 2014.  PMA Research, the worldwide market information experts on front projectors, and Insight Media, a leader in display technology research, have jointly released a report called the 2014 Mobile Solid State Projector Report. The report includes forecasts for unit sales and revenue through 2017 and historical shipment data since 2009. This report also covers technical and marketing aspects of mobile solid state projectors, including pico projectors, personal (micro) projectors and mobile devices containing embedded pico projectors.

The report provides forecasts from two of the most respected market research firms in the display industry. A top-down forecast developed by PMA Research which is based on manufacturer supplied shipment data, a monthly projector channel trend analysis, and PMA’s long history of forecasting for the projector market. The forecasts developed by Insight Media use a multi-variable penetration model to understand the factors that drive adoption and penetration into the market.

“Mobile projectors with solid state light sources, especially LEDs, are becoming increasingly common as both consumer and professional products,” noted analyst Jack A. Segal with PMA Research.  “The market for these products is expected to continue to grow as more projector manufacturers move into this space, and as the product specs and features evolve,” says Segal.

The Personal projector segment, which PMA defines as projectors under 1,000 lumens which utilize primarily SSI, weigh <1.75kg/<3.86 lb, and are powered by wall or laptop power supply brick, shows the biggest potential. When PMA began tracking the Pico and Personal projector market in 2009, annual shipments for the year were a little over 130,000 units shipped worldwide. By 2013 the personal projector segment had more than doubled to nearly 395,000 units shipped. By 2017, PMA expects that number to grow to more than 930,000 units shipped globally.

The report covers all important factors in the buying decision for these mobile solid state projectors, including key human factors associated with pico and personal projectors.  The report also discusses the technical factors that allow these projectors to be manufactured and lists key manufacturers of the projectors, the projector modules and components used in the projectors.

Epson PowerLite 570, 575W, 580, 585W Offer Bright Images with Advanced Features for the Connected Classroom
