The XJ-H2650 is rated at 3500 lumens. Much like the Casio XJ-M145 we reviewed last year (which was rated at 2500 lumens, but measured a high of 1500), the XJ-H2650 feel well short of the rated output. There are a number of options for the lamp mode, with Eco Off – Bright providing the greatest output. In that mode, we measured 2461 lumens in full wide zoom. At full telephoto zoom, output dropped to 2340 lumens and at mid-zoom (where all further measurements were taken), we got 2388 lumens. While this is not up to the rated output, it is still extremely bright, especially for an LED/laser light source projector. Setting the Eco Off mode to Normal, reduced the output to 2002 lumens. Turning Eco mode on and using the Standard color mode, in with Eco set to Eco1 in the Options menu (the brightest of the Eco modes), we measured 1682 lumens at mid-zoom range. Sticking with Standard mode, the output for each Eco mode was as follows: Eco2 – 1516, Eco3 – 1391, Eco4 – 1196 and Eco5 – 946.

There are four other color modes and each was measured in Eco1 lamp mode. Theater mode, which provided the best color balance, was the lowest at 677 lumens. Graphics mode was at 706 lumens, Blackboard at 986 lumens and Game was at 1170 lumens. Of course, any of these modes can use any of the five Eco settings, resulting in lower lumens for each.

The Casio XJ-H2650 provides exceptional wired and wireless networking capabilities. A wireless LAN adapter is included in the box and allows for up to 32 networked computers to be connected at a time with up to four simultaneously active on screen. With the included wireless projection software installed on the networked computers, presentation and control of the XJ-H2650 is possible. In addition, presentations can be made from other devices on the network using MobiShow® on a Smartphone or mobile terminal, including Windows® PC, Microsoft Windows® Mobile, Macintosh® PC, iPhone® / iPad® / iPod®, and Android®. Wired network connections can easily be set up on the projector as well.

The Casio XJ-H2650 has an excellent three year warranty on the projector and a three year or 6000-hour (whichever comes first) warranty on the total projector. As the LED/Laser light source is expected to last for 20,000 hours, it’s likely that the projector will last far longer than the three year warranty period.
