Sharp XV-Z3000 Projector Review - Warranty

Posted on October 19, 2013 by Art Feierman

Sharp provides a one year Parts and Labor warranty on the XV-Z3000 home theater projector. One year is about as short as it gets for home theater projectors. Until recently most projectors had a two or three year warranty, although more and more (especially the under $2000 variety), are being launched with only one year.

Personally, I'm not comfortable with a one year warranty, for a projector in this price, and would recommend an extended warranty. Ultimately, however, the call is yours, third party extended warranties are inexpensive, but never provide the confidence of a manufacturer's warranty. It's insurance, and overall, projectors are very reliable, but repair costs are high.

Of the competition, the Optoma HD7100 offers two years, as does their HD72, whereas the Panasonic PT-AX100U and InFocus IN76 also come with a single year.
