Three year warranties can be found on direct competitors including the BenQ W20000, the Epson Pro Cinema 9500UB (which also offer a 3 year replacement program, on top of the warranty, Vivitek’s LED light source (and pricey) H9080FD, and the recently reviewed Optoma HD8600.

Bottom line: There are better warranties, and worse ones, but the Sony VPL-VW85 warranty is typical. That said, of projectors in the same price range as this Sony projector, almost all have at least as good a warranty, and a few offer better warranties.
