Here we consider how the Vivitek H1080FD compares to other 1080p home theater projectors on the market.

The Vivitek H1080FD home theater projector one of the first sub-$1000 projector we've received to review. With that in mind we not only compare the H1080FD to the same priced Optoma HD20, but several more expensive projectors, and even a couple of 720p projectors.

For a touch of perspective, before we start, I consider the Vivitek almost to be a cross-over projector. That is, it is suitable for both home and business. The inclusionof a speaker, and achieving almost 2000 lumens gives it what it needs to play as a lower cost business projector, and one of the very few biz projectors with really high resolution. The 3x color wheel is definitely a symptom of a cross-over projector. We've seen the slower (including 2x color wheels) in other, previous cross-over projectors, including ones from Optoma and BenQ.
