This review of the BenQ W7000 2D and 3D Home Theater Projector has been an interesting one, since we've been working with an engineering sample. Final production projectors, due late Jan./early Feb., will have upgraded firmware, some fixes, and better performance. 1/2/2012 - Art Feierman That is what BenQ is telling me. I'm now waiting for a firmware upgrade, (or a full production W7000). In most areas, the W7000 is very similar to the W6000 it will replace. The W7000, however, is a bit brighter, and offers 3D. The two projectors actually physically look the same. While a couple of things were disappointing about the engineering sample, we expect that. BenQ has already indicated that those things are being corrected with the "January" production firmware. Let's get started! 2/19/2012: Update. You will find a number of these updates throughout this review. As of 2/19 I've been working with a W7000 with final firmware, and can report some real improvement in some areas. Notably black level performance is definitely better. Unless otherwise noted, all images in this review were taken with the engineering sample W7000. The SIM2 Nero 3D-2 Home Theater projector is one of SIM2's premium single chip DLP projectors. SIM2 offers their projectors through a collection of higher and high end "dealers". SIM2 is one of those high end companies that stresses customer support and product quality.Acer's H9500BD which started shipping a few months ago, proves to be a very capable projector in both 2D and 3D. Strong in some areas, though a bit weak in others, the H9500 projector, is one to be considered!Well, we waited about 4 months from our first look at the PT-AE7000 Home projector at the press roll-out in LA, until one arrived for review last week. Now that it's finally here, and I've played with the PT-AE7000, I'm happy. In the US, this projector is usually referred to as either the PT-AE7000 or the PT-AE7000U. Overseas, it's the PT-AT5000e. We'll primarly use the AE7000 designation, but for variety, you'll see the PT-AE7000U moniker, as well.Epson's Home Cinema 8350 will shortly be replacing the 8100 (which had received awards from us, and other reviewers/editors). Each year there are a few basically all new projectors, but most are simply minor imrprovements, with sometimes minor additional features. The Home Cinema 8350 is an improved and slightly refined version of the older projector. The short version, is that last year's Epson Home Cinema 8100 was a very good projector, and the new Home Cinema 8350 an improved, updated model, so we expect good performance. It should be noted that the older Epson Home Cinema 8100 received two awards from us: The Best In Class Runner-Up Award in our annual Home Projector Comparison Report in April 2010, (and received our Hot Product Award, when reviewed). Although primarily the same as last year's model, the Home Cinema 8350's slightly improved black levels, combined with a lower price, (plus the usual very bright image in brightest mode), and a very long life lamp, made this Epson a likely Hot Product Award candidate. It's taken me 4 years to talk Runco out of a unit to review, but, at last, I present to you, the Runco LS-7 review. This Runco LS-7 projector is a 720p resolution 3 chip DLP. It happens to be the first 3 chip DLP we've reviewed in about 3+ yearsA detailed review of this Hitachi CP-D10 ultra short throw projector.
