Kaleidescape Announces a New Promotion with Sony Electronics and Other Exciting Company News

This spring there are several exciting new promotions and company announcements happening at Kaleidescape, the industry leader in designing and manufacturing home movie servers and players that power the finest home cinema experience.

To start with, Kaleidescape is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Kaleidescape was founded with the goal of delivering the ultimate home cinema experience with a passion for movies and a deep respect for experiencing them as the filmmakers intended. Founded in February 2001, Michael Malcolm, one of the founders said “I started Kaleidescape, with cofounders Cheena Srinivasan and Dan Collens ... I had just built my first home theater at a time when the only practical movie source was a DVD disc. But DVDs were inconvenient to purchase, store, find, and play. We imagined and created new products and a cloud infrastructure that would deliver high-fidelity movies through the Internet, store them digitally in the home, automatically organize them, and make them easy to play in any room.”

“I’d like to congratulate Kaleidescape for 20 years of providing a fantastic, secure, super high-quality source for true home cinema,” says Barry Sonnenfeld, whose award-winning credits include his cinematography on Miller's CrossingRaising ArizonaBig, and When Harry Met Sally as well as his directorial work, including Get ShortyThe Addams Family, and the Men in Black franchise. Directors and other digital content creators love it when their products are presented in high quality and the way they intended it to be viewed. Not only that, they also enjoy working with Kaleidescape on distribution because of their stringent Copyright protection.

Kaleidescape + Sony Projector Promotion

In addition to this exciting milestone, Kaleidescape also announced this week a promotion along with Sony Electronics where they will offer a $3,000 discount to customers purchasing a Kaleidescape system alongside one of four Sony projectors: VPL-GTZ380, VPL-VW5000ES, VPL-VW995ES, or VPL-VW915ES (links to the Sony Projector Reviews below).

Sony VPL-GTZ380

“This joint promotion with Kaleidescape underscores our unwavering commitment to provide the finest in 4K HDR entertainment,” said Jeff Goldstein, head of custom integrator channel sales at Sony Electronics. “Besides being an incredible deal, this incentive ensures that our customers will get the very best from their premium Sony projector.”

Both Kaleidescape and Sony are dedicated to providing the ultimate 4K HDR experience. Kaleidescape delivers reference-quality 4K HDR movies at the source, optimizing for the highest resolution, dynamic range, and contrast capabilities of Sony’s high-end projectors. With over 12,000 movies and shows to choose from, Kaleidescape employs proprietary metadata to seamlessly adjust Sony’s projectors to display every movie in native aspect ratio.

“Sony is synonymous with 4K innovation and shares Kaleidescape’s vision for delivering the finest picture and sound quality,” said Tayloe Stansbury, Kaleidescape’s chief executive officer. “When you combine Sony’s finest projectors with Kaleidescape’s exceptional products, like the newly released Terra movie server with 48 TB storage, the result is a 4K HDR experience you can’t take your eyes off.”

Kaleidescape Strato S

Together, Kaleidescape and Sony highlight the benefits of a premium projector paired with the best-in-class movie playback source. A streaming device cannot maximize a high-end projector’s innovative capabilities and stops short of delivering the best possible viewing experience. In contrast, a Kaleidescape system is designed to play 4K HDR movies with a video bitrate four times higher while reproducing lossless audio at up to ten times higher than any streaming device. Visually, this results in a profound difference in clarity and detail when displayed on a Sony projector.

Priscilla Morgan Joining the Board of Directors

Lastly, Kaleidescape announced earlier this month, that Priscilla Morgan has joined its board of directors. “Priscilla’s experience in finance, operations, and go-to-market strategies for leading companies like Dolby and Oracle, will help Kaleidescape take a customer-first approach in scaling the organization,” said Tayloe Stansbury, CEO, Kaleidescape. “In addition, her customer-centric focus will continue to strengthen our client relationships to meet their objectives.”

We at Projector Reviews are proud to partner with Kaleidescape and use their Strato S for our reference content for reviews and shoot-outs. It provides the best content available and provides for a consistent demo experience which then allows us to focus on the differences in the projectors. Congratulation to Kaleidescape for all of the exciting new offerings and accomplishments.
