The default color gamut is very good. The primary colors, especially green, were among the most accurate I’ve seen in a DLP projector in this price range. Some of the CMS controls were tapped out at their default settings and increasing them (to increase saturation for example) had no effect. Lightness (Gain) was correctable for all three primaries, but hue and saturation remained unchanged. Similarly, Hue (which is the most important for secondaries) and lightness was correctable for all of the secondaries. Nonetheless, improvements could still be made with the CMS and the average chromaticity error dropped from 4.1 (which isn’t bad) to 2.3 after CMS calibration.
The final result yields a very good CIE chart that is not greatly different from the default CIE. The overall picture quality is quite good as well, with good skin tones and overall color depth.
