OVERVIEW

The PF610P is an $849 MSRP, Full HD (1920 x 1080) screen resolution projector. LG designed the PF610P to be transportable while delivering a high-quality image, allowing users to easily show movies and other entertainment anywhere with access to power.

On the Go Performance

The LG PF610P uses a Texas Instruments Digital Light Processing Projector (DLP) imaging chip to project a 120-inch diagonal image. You can project a larger image, but 120 inches is the maximum recommended size. LG has designed the PF610P to deliver a picture they refer to as cinematically immersive, whatever that means. I will be sure to let you know how immersive the image appears to me.

LED Color Quality

The LG PF610P uses an LED light source rated to produce 1,000 ANSI lumens of brightness which is not bad for such a portable projector. LG talks a lot about vivid shades and striking clarity in its marketing release. I'm pretty sure they are referring to color performance. The PF610P uses a 4 Channel LED Light Source, referring specifically to the projector's discrete Red, Green, and Blue (RGB) LEDs combined with LG's Dynamic green technology. Using these two technologies in the PF610P is designed to improve the 610P's brightness and image sharpness compared to conventional LED projectors that use three-channel LED light sources. Because of this, LG says this new LED CineBeam projector delivers more vibrant images than conventional projectors. Eliminating the traditional DLP color in favor of LED technology overcomes conventional projectors' defects such as discoloration of LCD and the irritating DLP rainbow effect.

webOS 5.0

The LG610P is a smart projector running LG's most recent webOS 5.0 platform. LG webOS 5.0 provides access to popular streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV, YouTube, and many more. It is compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and MiraCast for Android users, allowing viewers to share content from smartphones.
The PF610P features a 4-corner keystone adjustment that allows users to adjust the projected image from four different points. This helps users achieve a squared image from virtually any angle. Additionally, the PF610P features a 1.195 throw ratio, allowing large screens to be projected even from close range.

On paper, the LG PF610P seems to fit a tremendous amount of performance and features into a small (8.9-inch x 7.6-inch x 2.7-inch) body combined with a mere 3.7 pounds of weight. Using this projector as an on-the-go device should not be an issue.

The HU70LA is part of LG CineBeam lineup of projectors which are designed to make front projection more accessible and appealing to a wider range of consumers. LG’s goal was to build a line of projectors that could replace a TV in an environment where a large TV just won’t fit.

Since the HU70LA is designed to serve as a TV replacement so it includes most of the features that consumers expect in a flat panel TV including a TV tuner, internal speakers, and of course smart features.

To make the HU70LA as smart as possible, LG utilizes the same ThinQ AI webOS that is offered in their lineup of smart flat panel TVs. Overview

The LG HU70LA is an 4K DLP LED home theater projector. The projector’s single DLP (0.47” DMD) chip can reproduce 4K UHD resolution (3,840 x 2,160) which has a retail price of $1,799. The HU70LA is compatible HDR10 content and includes HDR Auto Tone Mapping to automatically adjust dark/bright levels to better optimize the unit’s HDR performance.

You could easily make a case for utilizing a projector as a TV replacement, especially since projectors have the ability to produce a massive picture from a compact chassis which would make them a great solution for an apartment, dorm room, or other small space.

However, there are several shortcomings when you compare most projectors with a flat panel TV. For example, the lamp in a traditional projector dims over time and must be changed every few thousand hours. This is not only inconvenient, but it adds additional costs to operate. This shortcoming is eliminated by the LED illumination found in the HU70LA which can provide years of maintenance free operation.

Also, while many projectors can deliver a great picture, most projectors are not very smart and they lack capabilities such as streaming apps that are common on most Smart flat panel TV’s today. The HU70LA utilizes their ThinQ AI webOS which was developed for their flat panel TV sets. You have all the apps and capabilities normally found in an LG Smart TV including Google Assistant which allows you to control not only the projector but a wide variety of compatible Smart home devices using your voice.

LG, a leading manufacturer of Smart TVs, lineup of CineBeam projectors which include the HU70LA combine all the smart capabilities of flat panel TVs with the long life of a LED light engine and 4K resolution to create a true flat panel TV replacement.

Great picture, smart features and low maintenance make the HU70LA a compelling alternative to a large flat panel TV especially in room where space is at a premium

LG HU80K

This is a paid advertorial from LG featuring their new 4K laser projector, the LG HU80K.

All Boxes Checked: No Compromises Here

LG HU80K

Like the selfie-attracting center-piece at the latest hip boutique gallery, the LG HU80K was a piece that was difficult not to pay some attention to at the CES 2018. The attention-hungry black box gradually built up enough buzz during the expo, and eventually won the coveted CES® 2018 Best of Innovation Award. We're unclear of the selfie count, but industry insiders, journalists, and even the competition saw something extraordinary, and as innovation goes, it was not just about the numbers, but a combination of right nudges and attractions that compelled visitors on the show floor to think about building their own lux man cave perfect for flicks.

LG's new 4K UHD/HDR laser projector HU80K is an eyeful. The subtle design features a square footprint just over six-by-six inches and stands by the knees at about eighteen inches, like many a man's best friend. The unit can be set on the floor, laid on a desk, mounted on the wall, ceiling, or just about anywhere, or held by the torso or on the shoulder a la Rocket's style from the Guardians of the Galaxy, for no real reason other than the fact that you really can with the HU80K. A swiveling tote-handle allows for easy carry along while a discreet power cord that retracts under the panel housing. No matter how you put it, the thoughtful and stylistic monolith design comes in at half the size of competing 4K projectors while hitting hard where it really counts.

The 4K Ultra HD HDR10 laser projection unit offering 8.3 mega pixels utilizing XPR technology is also quite a mouthful, because it literally throws in everything, topped by an extremely competitive price of 2,999 USD. Anything else on the market tagged with 4K, UHD, laser also has a price tag of 5K USD or greater, usually with extra zeros at the end. No other competition in this price bracket features such wildly affordable laser projection, nor do they have any business being near your tastefully chosen sofa or carpet.

The HU80K is a versatile black box with no buts about it. Punchy one-two 7 W speakers that you can choose to hook up to external speakers and sound bars via optical or Bluetooth. In terms of weight-class, this compact package comes in at about 14 pounds, but delivers far above its competition with a stunningly sharp laser engine that projects up to 2,500 lumens, allowing crisp viewing even in bright conditions. Coupled with LG's innovative Trumotion Technology, the compact box paints an amazing 150" screen (74″ by 132″) on your wall from 14.1 feet. We did the math, and a screen 70" or greater can be projected directly on the ceiling. Not only can you watch your favorite childhood movies or recent favorites while in bed, but also enjoy moments of mindful relaxation as the deep soothing hues of a rainforest canopy or the vivid glistening emerald blues of the tropical ocean is projected over your place of rest.
