BenQ V7050i

The BenQ V7050i is a 2500 lumen Laser TV that retails for $3499. Ultra-short throw, smart 4K laser projectors commonly referred to as "Laser TVs" have been growing in popularity. If like me, you have been waiting for BenQ to enter the Laser TV category, then you are going to be as excited as I am about the BenQ V7050i Laser TV projector.

BenQ has designed the V7050i to replace your living room television or older video projector. That might be a lot to expect from their freshman entry into the Laser TV category. This category has seen impressive growth over the past couple of years with excellent offerings from VAVA, Hisense, and Optoma. CE titans like Sony have been in the Laser TV category since before it was called Laser TV. LG and Samsung have more recently come to market with their own impressive Laser TV offerings. While they are facing some stiff competition, BenQ has a plan to succeed in this category.

BenQ plans to grab its slice of the ever-growing Laser TV category by focusing on price, performance, and smarts.

In this review, I'm going to take you through the core technology and notable features BenQ uses in the V7050i. In some markets, BenQ has also introduced a twin called the V7000i. Other than its white color, it is 100% identical to the V7050i.

The BenQ V7050i is priced at $3,499 MSRP, so it's natural to assume that the V7050i is designed to compete against offerings from VAVA, Optoma, Samsung, and Hisense, especially since its MSRP prices it $200 higher than Optoma P2, the same as the Samsung LS-P7T and $500 less than the Hisense 100L5F.

BenQ knows something about making a projector that looks good, both inside and out. The V7050i is a beautifully designed projector with sleek-edged aluminum lines that houses a laundry list of high-performance video technology ready to bring a cinematic entertainment experience to your living room.

At the heart of the V7050i is a 2,500-lumen laser diode light source and a Texas Instruments DLP (.47" DMD) imager to display a bright 4K picture. It features HDR-Pro™ (High Dynamic Range) for improved image quality and shadow detail from HDR content. The V7050i also utilizes BenQ's proprietary CinematicColor™ technology to deliver a wider color gamut covering up to 98% of the DCI-P3 color space. The projector's FILMMAKER mode did a great job utilizing the unit's color capability accurately.

The V7050i performs in a well-lit room

Like most Laser TV projectors, the V7050i offers an onboard sound system that BenQ has designed to outperform many competitors. BenQ includes a treVolo-tuned, 5W x 2 built-in virtual surround audio system that provides a complete home theater experience with only one projector that sits just inches from the screen.

The BenQ V7050i laser TV is a smart projector. It is a Google-certified Android TV™ device providing access to most of the popular Android TV video applications. You can also control the unit with your voice via Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.

Dynamic mode has good color

Even Dynamic mode - the brightest, as some pretty good looking color! (sorry, image slightly overexposed)

In addition to the pricing, this L6xx series class projector includes a single 10 watt speaker for useable, respectable volume sound.  Quality, of course, is limited.  We're not talking full range, professional sound.   In larger rooms the L610W will need help from the room's own sound system, which virtually every large lecture hall and auditorium already have built in.

Wireless connectivity (Epson's $99 wireless adapter is sold separately)enables increased engagement in your presentation through device sharing and or multiple screens.

Also, you can adjust up to ±50 percent vertical and ±20 percent horizontal manual lens shift in order to aid you with flexible installations.

The PowerLite L610W sits at about 19 pounds and occupies 17.5” x 12”, and it can be ceiling mounted or placed on table top. It includes 2,500,000 : 1 Dynamic contrast ratio. And another feat thanks to Epson’s breakthrough Laser technology, the L610W delivers a light source that will last 20,000 hours virtually maintenance free.

As you’ll soon learn about this projector, the Epson PowerLite L610W Laser Projector delivers high quality performance at a reasonable cost for any large, bright settings needing a powerful projector to display whatever you need, whenever you need it.
