Epson Introduces Lifestudio Projector Series

All Industry News

Epson has announced the new Lifestudio projector series, which is designed to merge advanced 3LCD projection technology with immersive audio provided by Bose to deliver an excellent visual and auditory performance from compact, lifestyle-oriented designs.

The popularity of smartphones and tablets has resulted in highly individualized viewing habits. According to Epson, the Lifestudio series was developed to bring people together through shared entertainment experiences. These projectors are intended to serve as social focal points, transforming everyday spaces into venues for movies, gaming, and interactive activities.

The line includes five models: Lifestudio Pop, Pop Plus, Flex, Flex Plus, and Grand, each designed for different use cases, ranging from portable entertainment to cinematic home installations.

The Lifestudio series marks the first time Epson has integrated Sound by Bose. Each model includes a sound system co-engineered by Epson and Bose, offering room-filling audio tailored to match the projector’s capabilities. Depending on the model, the systems feature either compact stereo arrays or 2.1-channel configurations with additional bass response. Four sound modes—Cinema, Dialogue, Music, and Standard—allow users to optimize playback for different types of content. This approach eliminates the need for external speakers in many setups while maintaining sound quality that aligns with the large-scale visuals of the projectors.

Lifstudio Pop

The entry-level models in the Lifestudio series are the Pop and Pop Plus. Both deliver 700 lumens of white and color brightness and are designed for portability with compact enclosures weighing under four pounds. The Pop projector offers a Full HD resolution image up to 150 inches, while the Pop Plus steps up to Epson’s 4K PRO-UHD resolution enhancement system.

Both include Google TV integration, built-in Chromecast for casting from mobile devices, and EpiqSense 2.0 auto-setup for automatic focus, color balance, and keystone correction. Gaming support is available through manual low-latency modes on the Pop, with the Pop Plus adding Auto Low Latency Mode for smoother transitions when paired with compatible gaming systems.

The Flex and Flex Plus projectors serve as a bridge between the portable and more permanent categories. Both share the same form factor, which includes a tiltable stand for flexible placemen. The Flex and Flex Plus includes built-in ambient light which adds a soft, colorful glow to the viewing environment. The standard Flex delivers Full HD resolution at 700 lumens, while the Flex Plus increases brightness to 1,000 lumens and features 4K PRO-UHD resolution enhancement.

Lifestudio Flex Plus

The models continue to emphasize lifestyle use with quick setup, streaming capabilities, and Sound by Bose audio, but add features such as wider throw distance options and gaming modes suited to larger screens up to 150 inches.

At the top of the line is the Lifestudio Grand, an ultra-short-throw laser projector that is designed to transform living rooms into cinematic environments. The Grand produces 3,600 lumens of white and color brightness, making it suitable for use in brighter rooms without sacrificing picture quality. It employs Epson’s 3LCD technology to produce 4K PRO-UHD resolution with HDR10 and HLG support, along with a dynamic contrast ratio rated at over 5,000,000:1.

Lifestudio Grand

The Lifestudio Grand is capable of projecting an image up to 120 inches from just inches away from the wall. The Grand is meant to provide a theater-like experience without requiring long throw distances or complex installation. Its integrated 2.1-channel audio system, also designed with Bose, adds a dedicated woofer for deep bass response, creating a more impactful soundstage that pairs with the larger image size.

The app can be used to display videos and images from friends and family on the big screen, with remote participants able to join via QR codes or online links. It also functions as a control interface, offering navigation, volume adjustment, and playback options from a smartphone.

The projectors run on Google TV, giving users access to thousands of apps including Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, and Hulu. Chromecast integration makes it easy to cast content directly from mobile devices, while Google Assistant enables voice control for searches and smart home integration. For gamers, Auto Low Latency Mode on the Flex Plus and Pop Plus reduces input lag when connected to compatible consoles, while the Grand supports refresh rates up to 120 Hz at 1080p.

Epson is positioning the Lifestudio line as more than a series of projectors. By combining established 3LCD projection technology with Bose audio engineering, built-in streaming platforms, and app-driven interactivity, the goal of the Lifestudio line of projectors is to create a new category of entertainment device that emphasizes shared experiences. From compact, portable units for casual use to a high-performance ultra short throw model intended to anchor a living room theater, the Lifestudio series represents Epson’s effort to align projection technology with modern lifestyle needs.
