Epson has one of the widest assortments of home theater and home entertainment projectors on the market, and over the past year, it has been working to expand its lineup. The Epson Pro Cinema LS9000, with an MSRP of $3,999, is the latest addition to its product assortment.
The Epson Pro Cinema LS9000 has been carefully designed with projector enthusiasts in mind, particularly those seeking an exceptional 4K home theater projector that balances high-end features and price. The Pro Cinema LS9000 is positioned strategically as a more affordable alternative to the award-winning Pro Cinema LS12000.
The Pro Cinema LS9000’s blue-laser phosphor light source has a rated brightness of 2,200 lumens (ISO and IDMS rated) and can deliver up to 20,000 hours of virtually maintenance-free operation. Epson’s 3LCD system simultaneously projects the red, green, and blue channels so the LS9000 can produce equal color and white brightness. The LS9000 is designed to reproduce rich and accurate colors on a medium-sized screen, even under low to moderate ambient light
The Pro Cinema LS9000 utilizes three 0.74" LCD panels with a native resolution of 1920 x 1080. The QB1000 uses Epson’s latest dual-axis pixel-shifting technology to display all 8.29 million pixels found in 4K UHD material on the screen. Older Epson 4K Pro UHD projectors utilized single-axis pixel shifting, which increased onscreen resolution beyond Full HD, but they could not reproduce 3840 x 2160 pixels. To differentiate models like the Pro Cinema LS9000 that use their latest pixel shift technology from older pixel shifting projectors, Epson utilizes a new 4K logo.
The LS9000 is equipped with Epson’s ZX Picture Processor, a 32-bit video processing chip that handles real-time image enhancements, HDR adjustments, frame interpolation, and precise color management. The Epson LS9000 supports multiple HDR formats, including HDR10, HDR10+, and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG).
The LS9000 features HDMI 2.1 inputs that support 4K gaming at 120Hz with input lag of under 20 milliseconds, making it a compelling choice for console gaming enthusiasts.
For installation flexibility, the LS9000 comes with a motorized zoom lens with lens shift (±96.3% vertical and ±24% horizontal). The zoom, focus, and lens shift settings can be saved into ten lens memory presets, simplifying installation for varied aspect ratios and screens. Epson has also prioritized quiet operation, with noise levels as low as 22 dB in eco mode, ensuring a distraction-free home theater audio experience.
There are some benefits to stepping up to the award-winning Pro Cinema LS12000 (MSRP $5,999), like more brightness and higher native contrast than the LS9000. However, the LS9000 offers a lot of performance for just $3,999, making it an attractive option to buyers whose budgets may not stretch to the LS12000 but who still seek excellent 4K performance, flexible installation, and strong gaming capabilities.
The new projector comes with Epson’s world-class warranty and support, including a standard three-year limited warranty with two-business-day full unit replacement, including free shipping and free lifetime technical phone support
Whether constructing a dedicated home theater, upgrading from an older lamp-based projector, or building a versatile space for cinema, sports, and gaming entertainment, the Epson Pro Cinema LS9000 is a unit you should consider.
The Pro Cinema LS9000 will be demonstrated for the first time at Audio Advice Live (Level 3: Hannover II and Governor’s Ballroom II) in August. 1 through August 8, 2025, in Raleigh, NC. The image projected on a 120-inch 1.1 gain Stewart Filmscreen looked great and I look forward to doing a detailed review of this model in the near future.
