Introducing the ASUS ProArt A1 the World's First Calman Verified Professional Projector

All Industry News

By Philip Boyle

Artists, painters, and photographers need the devices they display their work on to offer the most accurate color reproduction available. Artists need to be sure that their creations look precisely as they intended when being displayed in galleries or museums. If the color is just slightly off, it can change the way an audience perceives the artist’s intent by changing the tone of a displayed piece.

Calman Verified

ASUS, a company with an extensive history in color processing, has created a projector with color reproduction capabilities that can meet the needs of the creative industries’ color professionals. The ASUS ProArt Projector A1 comes factory pre-calibrated to Delta E < 2 color accuracy. Delta E ratings are used to ensure the color being displayed closely matches what the human eye can see. The higher the Delta E value, the lower the displayed color accuracy. The lower the Delta E value, the higher the displayed color accuracy. Creative professionals often need to have exact color replication, which requires a display with lower Delta E to produce more accurate colors. A Delta E rating of < 2 is almost indistinguishable from real life to all but the most highly trained eye.

First Calman Verified Projector

Until now, the only Calman Verified devices have been displays, and many of these are made by ASUS. It seems logical that the ASUS ProArt Projector A1 would be the world’s first Calman Verified professional projector. Creatives can rest assured that their video and images will appear with true lifelike colors when displayed on the ASUS ProArt Projector A1.

COLOR MANAGEMENT

ASUS ProArt Prest Palette

ASUS ProArt Preset options enable quick switching between color modes, so it’s easy to review different content types. Alternately, the ASUS ProArt Palette offers an easy-to-use interface where users can customize a wide range of color parameters, including hue, temperature, and gamma levels. Both features can be accessed via remote control or the hotkeys on the projector.

The ProArt Projector A1 can display a wide pallet of colors, including accurately reproducing 98 percent of the sRGB and Rec. 709 color gamuts. This level of color accuracy results in vivid projections with depth and lifelike detail, making the ProArt Projector A1 perfect for use in creator studios, art galleries, or museums.

Up to 3000 ANSI Lumens

ASUS achieves this level of performance by using a 3000-lumens LED light source that enables the ProArt Projector A1 to deliver incredibly bright and crisp FHD (1920 x 1080) imagery. The RGB LED light source ensures fade-free projections for up to 30,000 hours – which amounts to about 20 years of real-world use at an average of four hours per day.

DLP DYNAMIC COLOR, SPEED AND PERFORMANCE

The LED light engine on the A1 is married with a state-of-the-art DMD (Digital Micromirror Device) DLP (Digital Light Processing) imager. For years DLP chipsets have been chosen for their abilities to display beautiful videos and images, delivering more pixels and more precise images than technologies like LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). DLP provides enhanced readability and sharp detail. Content can be viewed in vivid detail regardless of the speed of action. Lastly, the DLP imager used in the ASUS A1 makes use of many of the same core MEMS (Micro Electrical Mechanical Systems) based technologies used in DLP cinema solutions found in movie theaters worldwide.

ASUS PROART PROJECTOR A1 - CORE FEATURES

The ASUS ProArt A1 is a 1080p Full HD (1920x1080) LED DLP projector. The A1 is rated to provide up to 3,000 ANSI lumens of screen brightness. Although the A1 is a 1080p projector, it can accept 4K (3840 x 2160) signals. As the A1 is designed primarily for Pro Art display and color accuracy (98% coverage of the sRGB and Rec. 709 color space), it has a stated contrast ratio of 800:1. This projector’s solid-state LED light source will last up to 30,000 hours of maintenance-free life.

The ProArt Projector A1 offers four-corner and 2D keystone correction, plus a 1.2X manual zoom ratio for projecting images in a confined space. 2D keystone correction allows you to adjust the projected image to get a proper rectangular projection. Four-corner adjustment compensates for image distortion when the projector is positioned off-center in relation to the projection surface. The ASUS ProArt Projector A1 can project up to a 200-inch diagonal image and offers a throw ratio of 1.3-1.56:1.

ProArt Projector A1 offers rich connectivity with two HDMI® 2.0 ports, VGA, audio input and output, RS232, and two USB Type-A ports ― so it’s easy to hook up a wide variety of devices.

ASUS includes a USB wireless dongle with the projector, allowing users to wirelessly mirror from a wide range of compatible iOS, Android, or Windows 10 devices.

ASUS also provides a free 90-day Adobe Creative Cloud membership with each ProArt A1 Projector purchase. This offer is good through Sept 2022.
