The Optoma HD803 Projector Review - Warranty

Posted on February 20, 2008 by Art Feierman
Check out how the Optoma HD803 fared in our comparison report. Optoma offers a one year warranty on the HD803, a year less the Optoma HD80, and two years less than Optoma's HD8000, or their more expensive HD81-LV, their super bright 1080p projector.

Two years is most typical in the industry for 1080p projectors. I always recommend that people buying projectors that come with only a one year warranty, purchase a 2nd year warranty. While one or two manufacturers offer extended warranties, most do not. Many online resellers of projectors actively offer 3rd party extended warranties. While most of us feel more comfortable with manufacturer warranties, the 3rd party ones are far less expensive, and should serve well enough. Typically, though, the likelyhood of a hassle with a 3rd party warranty company I would expect to be greater than with a factory warranty.
