Press Release
OPTOMA’S TW556-3D TARGETS ENTRY_LEVEL BOARDROOM/CLASSROOM MARKET
FREMONT, Calif. | June 5, 2012 |
Delivering its most competitive product yet to the entry-level WXGA projector market,
Optoma, the best-selling projector brand in the Americas, has introduced the brand-new TW556-3D, a 2800 ANSI lumen, 3D-PC ready projector with a category-best 10,000:1 contrast ratio and Optoma’s
Eco+ Mode, a suite of features that reduces power consumption by up to 70 percent, while increasing lamp life by up to 30 percent. Targeted at boardrooms and classrooms, the TW556-3D is supported by the company’s 3-year Express Replacement Service warranty.

“The bar has been rising consistently for this class of projectors, and with Optoma’s experience and an upgraded feature set, the TW556-3D will be a key player,” said Jon Grodem, Optoma’s senior director of product and marketing.
The TW556-3D is designed to bring a competitive feature set to a price-sensitive market. Incorporated as a standard feature, Optoma’s Eco+ mode employs new dynamic technologies that evaluate the brightness level of the content and dynamically reduce the lamp intensity to match the scene. The result is great looking content with superb black levels, substantially reduced power consumption and a reduced carbon footprint, all while increasing lamp life. Another
energy saving improvement of the Eco+ suite is an update to the familiar
AV Mute feature. Traditionally, AV Mute simply blanks/mutes the projected image while the lamp continues to burn at full intensity. With the new Eco+ AV Mute, lamp intensity is reduced by up to 80%, thereby reducing power consumption by up to 70% with the additional benefit of prolonged lamp life. A top-loading lamp design also makes changing lamps more convenient.
The TW556-3D provides a full complement of connection ports, including HDMI , two VGA-in, VGA-out, S-video, composite video, audio-in, audio-out, RS-232, and a USB port. A remote control with mouse and laser pointer is included. A two-watt speaker provides ample audio for most environments. The projector can also be connected to an external sound system via its built-in audio-out port.
