BENQ TK700STI 4K SMART GAMING PROJECTOR REVIEW - SUMMARY

Posted on July 5, 2021 by Kam Valentine

The TK700STi has an MSRP of $1,699.00. The projector utilizes a DLP (Texas Instruments 0.47” DMD) chip. Its lamp light source is rated to deliver at 3000 ANSI lumens for up to 15,000 hours.

The BenQ TK700STi is a 4K HDR Gaming Projector that is bundled with the QS0I Android TV dongle which provides access to over 5,000 Android TV apps including YouTube and Amazon Prime Video. The smart features are integrated seamlessly, and the menus are easy to navigate.

BenQ TK850i targeted dirrectly at the gaming crowd with a lag time of 16.7ms for 4K 60Hz: and just 4.16ms for 1080p 240Hz: 4.16ms which great for hardcore gamers where response times matter. Not only does the TK700STi have a dedicated video picture mode for gaming, there are also multiple game focused audio modes.

Yet, for the end user also looking for a great home cinema experience as well the TK700STi utilizes BenQ’s six-segment Color Wheel with DLP BrilliantColor™ technology. BenQ says this helps the projector produce over one billion colors. Like most BenQ projectors we have reviewed in the past, the projector deliver a very good image right out of the box.

Philip and I took the opportunity to fo a side by side comparison of the TK700STI and a competitor's home theater projector in the same price range. The color reproduction of the TK700STi was much better as well as its HDR picture Quality.

My most recent portable projectors reviews have been on relatively small projectors like the Epson EpiqVision Mini EF12 Smart Streaming Laser Projector, Phillips PicoPix Max, XGIMI Halo, BenQ XI300i, and the XGIMI Horizon Pro. Out of these, I thought the BenQ TK700STi was comparable to its BenQ sibling, the BenQ XI300i. Both BenQ projectors delivered a great gaming experience along with good picture quality.

The TK700STi and XI300i are both made for gaming and low latency, with the TK700STi rated at 1080p 120Hz: 8.33ms and the XI300i rated at 8.3ms@120Hz. However, keep in mind, the TK700STi ups its game wins this sibling rivalry because it also does 4K 60Hz: 16.67ms (4K output).

The other projectors I have tested are not purpose-built for gaming; do not worry, I plan on getting my hands on more gaming projectors to review soon. The $1,299.00 BenQ XI300i, which is a Full HD (1920 x 1080) 4-LED DLP HDR Gaming Projector, is excellent if you are not looking for a 4K projector.

I believe the BenQ TK700STi is a great value. It is bright, delivered an accurate image and its lightning-fast response time made it a joy to game on. I also appreciated the simple plug-and-play capability of a smart projector. I liked the projector so much that I have awarded the BenQ TK700STi, Projector Reviews, “Highly Recommended” award.
