Optoma Debuts UHD35STx Short Throw 4K Home Gaming Projector

All Industry News
by Philip Boyle

Optoma, the No. 1 4K UHD and DLP® projection brand worldwide and in the Americas, has introduced the Optoma UHD35STx. The UHD35STx is a short-throw 4K UHD gaming and home entertainment projector designed to allow users to immerse themselves in a world of Ultra HD gaming, live sports, and TV shows. This projector takes all the best of the Optoma UHD35 and adds short-throw functionality, making it an even more flexible projector to own and install.

4K

Optoma lists the UHD35STx as offering True 4K resolution designed to deliver sharp, lifelike images and rich colors, allowing viewers to sit close to the screen and enjoy an immersive experience.

The UHD35STx uses a single Texas Instruments (TI) Digital Light Processing (DLP) chipset to deliver a 4K UHD (3,840 × 2,160) displayed resolution.

Optoma's DLP projectors provide CTA-approved (Consumer Technology Association) True 4K UHD resolution, capable of projecting 8.3 million displayed pixels. That's four times more detail than Full HD and twice as much as some competing technology, which only delivers 4.1 million pixels.

GAMING

For a sports event, movie night, or a gaming marathon—anywhere with a flat surface

The UHD35STx offers a low latency functionality making this projector extremely attractive to both console and PC gamers, a follow-up to Optoma's award-winning UHD35**, and a step-up to the popular GT1080HDRx.

The input responses of the UHD35STx and UHD35 are unparalleled in consumer projection today, with ENHANCED GAMING mode delivering an ultra-low input lag of 4ms, resulting in unmatched visual fluidity.

The UHD35STx also features an integrated speaker providing powerful sound for a better gaming experience. The projector comes with two HDMI inputs that enable connection to multiple devices, such as set-top boxes, game consoles, and HDMI dongles. Optoma has also made the projector less than 5.6lbs, so it can be taken to a friend's house for a sports event, movie night, or a gaming marathon—anywhere with a flat surface.

HDR

This new Optoma projector is HDR- and HLG-compatible so that it can receive and display HDR10 and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) HDR content allowing viewers to see far more detail and texture in the brightest and darkest areas of the picture. Objects look more solid and lifelike, and the extra detail creates a greater sense of depth compared to SDR images.

The CinemaX D2 series has a rated brightness of 3,600 lumens, with an impressive 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

LENS

Featuring a short-throw lens, the UHD35STx allows consumers to enjoy up to 100-inch images from less than four feet away from the screen. Placing the projector closer allows for optimal big-screen viewing and straightforward setup in various home settings, from smaller gaming rooms to apartments.

If you want an even bigger entertainment experience, the UHD35STx will display images far larger than any flat-panel television. The UHD35STx allows users to project images up to a massive 300-inches diagonally. This large-screen capability is perfect for recreating immersive cinema experiences in the comfort of your own home.

BRIGHTNESS, CONTRAST, AND COLOR

Reliable performance suitable for any content and environment

Convenient and easy to set up, this compact high-brightness projector provides a rated 3,600 lumens of brightness with a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. What this means is the UHD35STx will look good even in well-lit environments. The UHD35STx is designed for lights-on viewing, creating not only a bright image but also an image with vivid colors for vibrant, true-to-life visuals in well-lit environments. This makes it ideal for watching TV shows, sports, and movies or gaming with family or friends any time of day.

This Optoma projector provides reliable performance suitable for any content and environment. It can reproduce the Rec.709 color gamut, the international HDTV standard, which guarantees accurate reproduction of cinematic color exactly as the director intended. Or it can produce more saturated colors for a punchy-looking image, great for gaming and animated movies. In addition, the projector features ISF modes that allow users to save their calibrated DAY and NIGHT mode settings for the highest possible viewing experience.

The UHD35Tx delivers impressive, bright 4K UHD high-quality images, lightning-fast input lag as low as 4.2ms, and a high refresh rate of 240Hz— perfect for a competitive gaming advantage.
