ViewSonic X100-4K 4K LED Smart Home Theater Projector Review - Summary

HIGHLIGHTS

ViewSonic X100-4K
The LED light source and features make the ViewSonic X100-4K a great value.

The ViewSonic X100-4K is a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) LED Smart Theater Projector. The projector utilizes a DLP (Texas Instruments 0.47” DMD) chip. Its light source is rated to deliver at 2900 LED lumens for up to 30,000 hours. We measured a maximum brightness of 1183 ANSI lumens but due to the projector's LED light source, it did appear brighter what its measurement indicated.

The X100-4K has Wi-Fi, which allows you to connect to the Aptoide Store. While Aptoide provides access to tons of streaming services and apps. it was too glitchy for me. The projector is compatible with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The projector does have 16GB internal storage (Max.12GB available for user storage) if you want to avoid Aptoide and store some of your favorite movies in the projector. I simply ended up connecting my external streaming devices and was very satisfied with my choice.

Other features include screen mirroring of iOS and Android mobile devices – iOS, 3D, manual focus, vertical keystone, and a built-in media player. The projector also has Bluetooth, although the Bluetooth did not work for me. With wide horizontal and vertical lens shift, the X100-4K would be easy to install in most homes.

The X100-4K is capable of delivering a very good color once it is calibrated. You will want to take the time to have someone calibrate the projector set up your ISF Day and ISF Night color modes for you.

VIEWSONIC X100-4K 4K LED SMART THEATER PROJECTOR REVIEW – VALUE PROPOSITION

4K UHD LED with Wide Lens Shift.

The fact you could get into this 4K lamp-free home theater projector with optical horizontal and vertical lens shift is at an MSRP of $1,816.99 is excellent. For around the same price, you could buy a brighter projector like the BenQ TK850i that delivers better color accuracy out of the box but it would be a lamp-based unit with less installation flexibility. You would need to spend more than double that cost to get another comparable 4K UHD LED projector with the same feature set as the X100-4K which makes it an outstanding value.
