Vivitek H9080FD - Review Summary-2

Posted on August 19, 2009 by Art Feierman

All that said, I really think the Vivitek will perform its best on screens of 100 inch diagonal or less. Push it larger, and while you may not be starving for more lumens, I expect some of the great qualities of this projector will be lost due to being slightly underpowered.

One really nice thing about the H9080FD is it's sharpness. The image looks very crisp and clear especially when I feed it some high quality 1080i digital content from HDTV. All digital source material looks great. The sharpness for example, while not the very best I've seen, is definitely better than my JVC's, which is average. I would be so much happier (its my biggest complaint) with my JVC if it was this sharp!

The Very Bottom Line on the Vivitek H9080FD Projector:

Expensive, but quality picture, ideal for smaller screens up to 100" diagonal, in dedicated theater rooms. In that enviroment the image will really pop!

If the limited lumens, or the high sticker price due to the LED light source haven't intimidated you, then you can be the first on your block, no, probably first in your city, to enjoy the picture, and the novelty of a most impressive, LED light source DLP projector.
